Re: what kind of helmets do you guys wear?

So I had a chance to think about the ("my tax dollars going toward the long term care of those that suffer traumatic brain injuries.") statement. For example, lets say there are 100 people on life support, at any one given time, that could of had lesser injuries if they were wearing a helmet. Now le...

Re: what kind of helmets do you guys wear?

"The "typical" bicyclist killed on our roads is a sober male over 16 not wearing a helmet riding on a major road between intersections in an urban area on a summer evening when hit by a car." Well, I guess they have it all figured out with their studies. The "0" at a press conference. "To make all b...

Re: what kind of helmets do you guys wear?

Man that site is big. I saw the 81 million figure, but that's very vague. Where is the figure that says how much is coming out of your pocket in the way of "my tax dollars going toward the long term care of those that suffer traumatic brain injuries." And to use your logic further, should we not ban...

Oops, scratch that last statement, I forgot that you have to survive getting out of the womb alive.

Re: what kind of helmets do you guys wear?

I used to ride with a guy who said a full face helmet nearly killed him. He was riding in the dunes and crashed, the helmet acted like a scoop and pushed sand down his throat. He was lucky that there were some other riders that were paramedics that saved him from choking to death. You know, if you t...

Re: what kind of helmets do you guys wear?

That is not a anti-helmet site, it's a riders rights site. The idea is to let the rider decide if they want to wear a helmet or not. Like them, I'm not in favor of someone running my life. Believe it or not, there are plenty of people out there that would ban motorcycles, bicycles, mopeds... We are ...

Re: what kind of helmets do you guys wear?

What I'm pointing out is, people say take something rap it around your head and you will be safer in a crash. It's not all that simple, there are tons of things going on. It's like they say 55 saves lives, but when someone actually did a study, they found that it was not the case. They also found th...

Re: what kind of helmets do you guys wear?

You wear a helmet, you are more likely to get run down. At least that what this guys study says. http://www.bath.ac.uk/news/articles/releases/overtaking110906.html There have been other studies that say a helmet is not such a great idea. On the surface you would think a helmet would be a good idea, ...

Re: Battery Pack motor connections?

Well Chad sold me the battery pack and it does have a BMS on it. When I bought a pack for my other bike from Ping, it had wires for the motor. I did ask Chad about it, but he just said to use a volt meter. I guess I could look at a schematic of a BMS and figure it out myself.

Battery Pack motor connections?

I got a LiFe battery pack and all that came with it are the connections for the charger. There are no positive or negative wires for the motor. I guessing that the positive and negative for the charger are the same as the motor. So I would just have to splice some wires for the motor onto the charge...

Re: Oil may lose top rank as cheapest energy

Nuclear and coal are probably the cheap energy that they did not mention. There are quite a few people that do not to hear that nuclear energy or coal is the only other cheap energy that we have. If it comes down to it though, being able to afford to heat the house in the winter or not, nuclear/coal...

Re: Gearing or Voltage?

Hey D So do you have some experience with these Giant LaFree motors? That is what I have, I though the peak power was a 1,000 watts, you are saying the controller limits that to 750? I used that calculator and it says I need 500 watts to get to 25 MPH. I figure I will be inputting 100 watts and the ...

Gearing or Voltage?

I have the ability to gear my bike to go faster, is that just as good as upping the battery voltage? Upping the voltage, from my understanding is changing the characteristics of the motor, a higher voltage will make for a more powerful motor that wants to have a higher top RPM too. I have been looki...

Re: How far should I expect to go?

I have a real life example on my other bike using a Ping 24V 20Ah pack. Doing the usual type of riding I do, I was able to go 45 kilometers and I still had power to spare. Not sure how juice I had left, I should have just rode around to finish the pack off to give me a idea what the total range was....

How far should I expect to go?

If I build a 36V 10Ah pack using BMI or some other top of the line Lithium batteries, how much range should I expect to get from them. Here is my general riding conditions. 1) Standard mountain style bike with street tires at 65 PSI. 2) My total weight will be 250 Lbs. That's bike, motor, battery, m...

Re: Motor cooling

To answer the question, a watercooled motor works by circulating water around the hot bits, then pumping it into a radiator where large amounts of air can be passed over it. It can increase the amount of air you can use to cool the motor, and the liquid around the motor also helps increase the ther...

Who is using RC batteries?

There are some 11.1 volt 2,200 Mah, 15C batteries on e-bay for $10.99 each. That's 46 cents a watt hour.

Seems like it would be pretty easy to make up a pack out of them. What do you guys think?

Re: 6 Brainwashing Techniques They're Using On You Right Now

What would be the reasons advertising works? 1) Lazy people do not bother to do any research before they buy into something, it's just easier to believe what you are told. 2) People want to feel good about themselves, if what they are buying into says it's a good thing, then they will believe it and...
