Re: Vacation in America

I pretty sure you can find almost anything you want in the good ole USofA. Living in San Diego is probably one of the better places to experience diversity. We have communities that represent a good sampling of a lot of places on the planet. You could have a Irish breakfast in the morning, a Jamaica...

Re: Have lower gas prices hurt ebike business?

I know Southwest Airlines bought quite a bit of fuel the last go around. And that protected them from the last jump in fuel prices. I bet they will be buying again when they feel it's getting to a price point they think will work for them.

Re: Have lower gas prices hurt ebike business?

No one thinks of the upside to lower gas prices. More disposable income. Right off the top, I walk away from the pump with a extra ten dollars in my pocket, every time I fill up. Now everything else everyone buys is going to be cheaper, just the opposite of what happened when gas prices were skyrock...

Headway, buying batteries.

So I have been checking battery pack prices. From what I have found, your going to get a cheaper price if you shop direct from China. But it could be hit and miss on a good buying experience. Slow shipping, dodgy batteries, poor customer service... Now it looks like if you buy from Headway in USofA,...

Re: Ebola

People who use these stupid comparisons about your chances of dieing from Ebola as compared to other risks in life, should use their brain before speaking. Ebola is not the real problem, it's society. Ebola can be controlled, but will it be? Look at what already happened. We have a virus that is ext...

Re: Ebola

Problem is, we have a society that reacts to a crisis. Instead of seeing the potential problem and then dealing with it in a logical manner, we wait till people are dropping dead around us and then do something. I just hope it's not to late and we end up with a hell of a lot of dead people and every...

38120S Headway, where to buy?

I'm looking to buy a 48 volt kit with screw terminals. Someplace that is reliable, good service if I have problems. I looked online and here, but, always looking for the best deal. What do you guys say? 16-38120S 10Ah batteries. 1-BMS. Not sure the current capacity I need on the BMS. 1-Charger. I al...

Re: E-Bike shuts down shortly after being under power.

So I found the problem. I did a load test and checked individual battery voltages and they seemed fine. I took a better look at the BMS and found the ground plug coming from the battery to be getting really hot, to the point that the plastic part of the plug was starting to melt. I got rid of the co...

Re: 38120 Headway, where to buy?

So any 120 volt radiant heater will work for discharging my 36 volt pack, or does the wattage of the radiant heater matter? Using a heater will be a lot easier, as I can bench test the battery pack, instead of road testing the battery pack. How do I get a reading of the current output of the pack? I...

My 36V pack seems to have a bad cell in it. I'm going to hook up some test leads and a meter to check and see which one it is while I'm riding my bike. Looking for a too low of a voltage drop when the BMS shuts the bikes power down. Now, if it turns out to be a single bad cell, where can I get a rep...

I tried the free route a couple of times. In each case your the guinea pig. One time it was though a dental school, the other time it was under the coverage of USPS insurance. I don't remember much about the first time, as I was a kid, the second time they butchered me. The dentist couldn't do a sim...

Re: Medical Tourism, a growing trend

Turns out, seems like everyone I talked to either had dental work done in Mexico or knew someone that did. The research I had done pointed out that people were traveling to San Diego just to have dental ...

Re: What a mess and it's going to be expensive to all of us

So the windmills have no impact, whats so ever, on nature. And your preaching the party line. "If we say it's Green, then it's Green". The solar installs in California by Nevada had them out moving turtles at $50,000.00 each. Several hundred had to be relocated to keep them from being impacted. The ...

Nice, so your buying wind energy, have you no mercy! "Kelly Fuller, with the American Bird Conservancy, said, “In 2009, an expert at the Fish and Wildlife Service estimated 440,000 birds were being killed by wind turbines a year. That was before we had more growth of the industry.” "West Virginia, i...

Re: Stock controller overvoltage.

I guess there is no way to know then, not without doing the smoke test. These controllers are sealed in potting compound in their case.

I was hoping to use them in a higher voltage build, other then just keep them laying around as a spare, for one of the bikes I run at stock voltage.

Re: What a mess and it's going to be expensive to all of us

it would be better to just charge for electricity on a progressive scale. rationing with big premiums for exceeding allotment would be ideal but now people can rationalize their electricity use to conserve money. so instead of huge bills for A/C during the summer and the power demand on the grid ca...

Re: What a mess and it's going to be expensive to all of us

What, it's going to cost me $10.00 just to charge up my bike now. When the grid is up. Well, how did you come up with this number? By your assumption, I'll be paying $1200 a month for electricity alone? Right now it cost me, let's say, $0.5 to charge bike, and my monthly bill is $60. Just making a ...

I did measure the voltages while the pack was on charge. I explained that they did not change much. The low ones stayed at 3.4 volts and the higher ones stayed at 3.6 and one would go back and forth between 3.6 and 3.7. It's a Micronta handheld digital voltmeter, not sure what the tolerances are, bu...

Stock controller overvoltage.

I have a Giant LaFree, well actually five of them. I was wondering if anyone has ever ran a stock (not your DIY stock bolt on controller) controller at a higher voltage. I guess manufacturing ease is more important then capacity. Lots of wasted space between cells. Is Hea...

The battery pack I purchased used off of this site. It's 18650 cells, not sure of the chemistry. The charger came with the pack. It's one of those really cheap looking chargers, I pulled one apart before and did not see any adjustments. 12 cells. The BMS looks really well built, so I'm assuming the ...

Nuclear radiation burns account for over 10,000 deaths a year.

Living on this planet is going to kill you one way or another.
