Re: World Wide Electric Bike 36v kit, Fusin gearmotor review

Although I don't have anything to compare to the 9C motor it doesn't seem to have too much cogging torque. Yesterday on a slight downhill it picked up speed while coasting. I'm sure the extra weight had some influence. I do notice the extra effort pedaling but I think it may be 80% weight and 20% co...

Re: 9C on a tour easy clone

No problem with traction. It does spin on loose sand/gravel/grass. I tried a dirt/gravel road the other day.I don't think I'll do that again. It wasn't so much the loss of traction but the tiller in the steering. Also no big hills around here so as long as I stick to the pavement it's all good..

Re: 9C on a tour easy clone

I am up to 50 mi. on the 9c motor and it runs good. Fixing lots of stuff now that I'm putting some miles on it. Now I've got a pedal knocking. Everything on this bike was used except tires and cables so no surprise. All the knowledge gleaned here made the switch to electric painless though. Now I ne...

Re: Poll: whats your favourite bike accessory?

I must say a good mirror. My other recumbent has a mirror that mounts in the end of the handlebar. Maybe I should borrow that since the unpowered bike isn't seeing much use anyway. Next I want a cycle analyst and better batteries..

Re: The Chopper Cycle Dialog (((56k warning)))

Oh yea. I am sure you won't have any problem selling it. I just did another 5 or 6 mi. on mine out in the country. I never passed 1 car, it was great. I am ready for more range. I knew I wouldn't get much with 7.5 ah sla but it was built on a strict budget. No voltage sag this time. I used part thro...

Re: The Chopper Cycle Dialog (((56k warning)))

Nice video. Very clean work. I have always wanted to build a chopper. My tour-easy is very comfortable just not too stylish. 100 deg. here today. I haven't even rode mine. Maybe when the sun gets low...Have you had people ask you about it while riding?

Re: Hi, Where to Start

Hi, I think I remember you from bentrider. I just put a front hub on my TE clone. That front fork looks pretty light though. A rear hub would be better unless you get a beefier fork. Also I would try to hang your batteries under the top bar between the wheels. It would take a little engineering but ...

Re: Anyone use SLA's still? Need distance and speed.

These guys are right on. Much over 20 mph and wind resistance will play a big role. I know on my 36v setup a headwind seems to slow me down alot more than a small hill. If you can live with the speed you could try maybe 17 ah sla. Four of those would still be heavy but better than 8 12ah batts.

Re: Lead Acid vs. Lithium Based vs. Nimh and other Batteries

Yea I think the chargers might have a lot to do with it, and the cheap cells. I just read a pdf from Jaycar I think and it explained things very well. I wish tool batteries had a standard mating connection per voltage. It would force manuf. to make a better product if they knew people could use any ...

Re: Lead Acid vs. Lithium Based vs. Nimh and other Batteries

I HATE VOLTAGE SAG !! 10 mph with pedaling on my last mile home :x SLA BLUES Hey since were on nicads a ? Anyone know what really kills nicads 90 % of the time. I bet I've got 3 old drills a weadeater, I'm sure some other stuff and weak nicads is the only issue. I am wondering about the chargers tha...

Re: 9C on a tour easy clone

Heres a shot of one side cover. The other side is sheet metal. I plan on mounting a key switch so I did one side metal and one coroplast. In this you can see my Radio Shack connectors. Not the best but ok for 25 amps I think.Image

Re: 9C on a tour easy clone

Actually these are old mountain bike forks. No lawyer lips. I did have to use a dremel and a flat file so the axle would drop all the way into the slot. Also on these forks the slot is parallel to the fork so the torque arm lines up with it. I'll get a good pic tomorrow. I wanted to install this kit...

I love zip ties and self tappers

Well got alot done today. Finally changed out the rear wheel and tire, much smoother. And made some covers for the batts and wiring. Coroplast. Here is my hitech coroplast forming machine. Actually couldn't get it hot enough but it did help. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b113/rolinfun/coro-form....

Re: 9C on a tour easy clone

I've got one hiway going north with wide shoulders that I'll try with the mi. markers. As far as the rear wheel, I may just look for a good single speed rear wheel to try out. Kansas is pretty flat and I have been in 5th gear almost the whole time. A 3 speed would be plenty. I'll try to get a couple...

Re: Lead Acid vs. Lithium Based vs. Nimh and other Batteries

Short range and limited use describes my riding. I just started and am using lead. 1: because I traded a radio antenna for the first two on my 24v bike. 2: because I already had 1- 7.5 ah for my second build so only had to buy 2 more@ 21 dollars each. I would love to have lipo or similar but can't j...

Re: 9C on a tour easy clone

haha yea you do some pretty good torture tests. I am suddenly between jobs so I think I'll hold off on the extreme reliability tests. This 9c sure seems to have good pull for a dd motor. It'll spin on anything loose. I am pretty sure my speedo is whacked. It does not jive with my other bikes at all ...

9C on a tour easy clone

Well I finally got another e-bike going. Thanks to Jason and his sale at E-Bikekit.com. I started out with a 24v brushed rear on a cruiser bike and it was getting so much use I knew I had to get something for my recumbent. I am totally impressed with the service from Jason and the performance of the...

One thing you might try is a larger wire to the controller. I was looking at the last pic and it appears you are using a computer plug and recep. That may only be 16 gauge wire.

Re: E-Recumbent Bike

Wow that is a Sun EZ-Rider knockoff alright. I have an EZ. It almost got electrified yesterday but I would have had to spread the forks too much, so my toureasy clone is the donor. The bike is heavy though. Mine is cromo and is 50 lbs. I think I have a pic on my photobucket page linked here. It fits...

Awesome build. How does it ride? Should be good with the batts low like that. Looks like those 17 ah batts should give good range too. I gotta get to building again....
