Re: Fat Bike vs (Hardtail)-MTB

I have 2 elecs . One full suss and 1 hardtail. I love the full suss on dirt roads. The hard tail with 2.3 inch tires is a little rough on the dirt.

I would love to have a fat bike with front suss. I have not ridden one but I think 4" tires would be cushy and you could add a suss seat post.

Re: Holding your pants and your battery...

Never knew it was called a truckers hitch. I started using that in the 80s. I still use it. You can get it very tight and release it easily..

Still my go to for strapping in my utility trailer.

It is harder to use on something small like a battery

Re: Welding failure

I welded the base of my vice and it has held. I heated the part in the oven. I cranked up my ac arc welder to max and I covered the part with a weld blanket after welding. Or maybe I just got lucky. 🤔 Oh. I ground a deep v / or chamfered the parts. And I welded both sides. Looked like in the pic you...

No . If you parallel more batteries it has to have the same voltage of the other series string. How old are the gel batteries?

I wonder how well my old Fsr would handle with mid drive. 😁 Night and day compared to my 9c I'm sure.

Re: Holding your pants and your battery...

Mine is on an old fsr. So it is really hanging under the frame, with nothing under it😬
Also my bottle screws made the battery really low.
Always a work in progress.

Re: Holding your pants and your battery...

:bigthumb: Simple an effective. I have done the same thing. My batt hangs off the bottom of my top tube. I want to build a aluminium mount fastened with more rivnuts /add more. Or weld it to the frame and bolt my batt to it.

Re: Budget Battery suggestions 72v?

Em3ev. Has good info about their batteries. It will give you "honest" ratings for max current.

2000 watts is not too much. Most 10 ah batteries with good cells should handle it. It gets bad when you do run the battery at its limits for extended times.

Ooh🤔 Thanks Amberwolf. That makes sense. What size/type fuse would i start with on 20 amp controller? Or circuit breaker?

Re: Budget Battery suggestions 72v?

Dogman is right. I did not know those walmart batteries were lithium. But they are super small. You really need about 10 ah of lithium to run a 20 amp controller without taxing the battery. Lipo is the cheapest option but dangerous. Not sure if you can get lifepo? any cheaper than good lithium. Dogm...

Re: Budget Battery suggestions 72v?

You really don't want that lead acid. You actually only get half of the amps. 4.5 ah. would like 2 ah. Not enough to run a bike . You would barely get around the block. I would save a little more and find some lithium. Maybe you can get lucky and find someone on here that wants to upgrade and sell y...

Any more insight here. I run rear hubs so less risk. But other people/friends ride my bikes.
One question, will my cutout switches on the brakes still cut power to the motor if this happens?

Don't go lead acid.
Em3ev is one of the better vendors here. Honest specs on their products.
Welcome to the ES forum. Is this your first bike? If so you will find the battery is the biggest expense.

Is a wet throttle more common failure?

The fuses in the phase wires sound like a simple fix. What amp would a person need? Say if you had a 20 amp controller.

Re: Newbie, Looking for answers, 6Kw too much? :) 1st timer w/ a Hub.

I like your bike. My Rincon put me on my arse first ride on 60 v. I used lipo for awhile . now have em3ev (hope i spelled that right) 36v on the rincon and 48v on the fsr.

I was trying to figure out which tire is Duro. I am about to go to a mc tire on the back.

Re: Is this amp meter for DC?

Yes. Pretty sure it has to be true rms meter . I use Southwire meters. The true sine d.c. meter I have only reads to 40 amps .

Although that does run the wire through a "clamp". Can you message the seller?
Looks like has it for 35.00 looking at other products he sells.

Re: Kid car melting switches

I am thinking about adding a relay to the wire that gets hot. I can run a heavier wire from the batteries to carry the amps.

If I do this. Is there any risk to this? LFF or Fetcher care to chime in? I want this safe for my grandaughter.

Kid car melting switches

Been working on my Granddaughter 12v Amg Mercedes ride ;)

It is melting the switch and connector for the fwd/rev. One wire gets hot. Should I just find a heavier dtdp. Switch. Also would a power tool battery work good. Keeping the voltage up should lower the amps yes?
