Re: started e-bike project, made mistakes, now a lil' lost

I like the Vienna frame. But, These bikes don't have front susp. and disc brakes. Nice bikes but no " goodies" :) I use an old Rincon - no disc and an older FSR dual susp and front disc. And I have 2.95 x 26 on one and 24 front 20 inch rear on the FSR ... It rides like a caddy to me. lol Maybe and s...

I radial laced a 9-Continent direct drive in 20 " wheel. So far it has held up well. I do not do many miles though.

Re: 48 Volt Rear Hub Build

Looks tight but on the seatpost would make all the cabling nice and short. Might want to build a deflector for the mud/water. Or right in front of the battery bag, nice looking bike btw..

Yep 1 gear. If you look at my posts my FSR had no pedal drive for a couple years. Now it has a 45t-15t and 145 mm bmx cranks. I can help out at any time which with my 28-10 dd motor with 20 " rear is only 16 mph :D

Re: Best Full Suspension ebike Frames?

you can upgrade suspension on (almost) any bike frame, all you have to do is measure and maybe get a little creative with mounting hardware. most frames with suspension are pretty easy to deal with and while people might look at you funny (including in this forum based on how i was received in my i...

Re: Best Full Suspension ebike Frames?

My old FSR has worked out well for me. Next I want to fab a somewhat triangle shaped mount for the battery to be able to move it up some. Add some rivnuts to mount the bracket. Right now it is mounted to the stock waterbottle bosses. Also I run 24 " on the front which gives me plenty of room. I have...

Pics would be great. Also if it is the controller it might be easier to replace it. Others should know how cheap they are.

What did you do to your e-bike today?

Last fall I had a 24 inch rim laced for the front at a local shop. I took delivery of a 48 v shark from EM3EV .. Finally a production plug and play battery after several years of playing with lead and lipo.. I finally got out the garage this wknd and fabbed up a tensioner since I am running single s...

Re: Cyclone or BBSHD on Specialized FSR?

Sorry just caught this thread again. That FSR is way different than mine/newer maybe. Less room for a battery under the frame like mine. Plus I put a 24 inch on front. That is a lot of money though. I only gave 150 on CL for mine. I do love it though. It was the top of the line 30 yrs ago . It is th...

Re: Looking for "new" used bike for electric conversion

That Gary Fisher looks like my Giant Rincon. I run an old E-Bikekit DD hub on the back on 36 volts. I fabbed some torque arms using some heavy washers that came with the hub. I welded small tabs on the washers so I could bolt them to the dropouts. Bike works good . Rim brakes are not great. The Mani...

Re: Cyclone or BBSHD on Specialized FSR?

Looks about the same year as mine. Mine had plenty of room for the battery under the frame. I am running a 24 inch front but you should still have room. Sorry cannot help on the midrive.. I still need to build a custom mount to move it up and maybe build a bash guard around it too.

I like that. Maybe paint the bottle battery and stripe it to look old/retro. Most people would not know it is electric. Welcome to the ES family..

Going to a local bike shop is a good idea. Then you can actually ride different bikes. Even if you don't buy from them.

Re: Seeking advice on e-bike selection

I have heard good things about the torque sensing PAS systems on the new midrives. A system that doubles your output and no throttle. Just mount and go. That and a IGH would be sweet. . I rode a tadpole with a CVT. NuVinci I think. Loved it. And belt drive.. 8) Get something you can fit large tires ...

Haven't done that in so long. Last thing I got was yards of leather from a discarded leather couch. The material on the back was pristine. :D And when I want to get rid of something just put it on the curb with a free sign-poof - it's gone.

Re: Recumbent Advise

Looking at your bike again. Putting it on the front might work. Maybe solidly mount it in the headset below the handlebars. I just see all that room on the bottom tube but you might have to move it back out of the strike range of the pedals and add an idler on the vert "seat" tube to raise the chain...
