Re: Aluminum ebike frame - €790

It's a bit different than on bicycles and feels unnatural to pedal at first. But you are not going to pedal it anyway and this gives some extra room for battery.
If that is a problem, I have a custom made seat post with extension around 50mm back.

Did follow it for some time. Nice results.
Of course cost is a very important factor, making it rarely feasible.

Re: *PICS* Weird winding on MXUS v1

No outcome.
So far I can confirm that no-load consumption is pretty high at higher rpm. Not sure if this is eddy losses or also due to my bit-faulty VESC vontroller.

Re: Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

BMZ's claims for their 21700 (Sony cell ?)..... A larger cell, with more capacity, but it weighs less ???? 50% more energy 60% more capacity ? 68% increase in output ? 4 times more discharge current ? If half those claims are true,...it will kill 18650s for EV use Note this is "more energy", but no...

Re: Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

Um, I don't get it. Less wiring and fewer connections perhaps? Yes, that might be it. But that will take time, as most businesses already have their designs and production sorted out. Even tiny changes can land very high costs. Also with 18650 you get a lot of alternatives from many companies. With...

Re: Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

Um, I don't get it. Current maximum capacity in 18650, AFAIK, is 3.5Ah. Just by estimating by increased diameter (21²/18.3²) and length (70/65) you get +42% capacity, which is 5.0Ah. And they say 21700 is so great, because they can fit 4.8Ah. Is there a real increase in actual energy/power density? ...

Re: My Ebike Android App (supports Cycle Analyst)

I am using the app, it is nice. But it needs some minor improvements, like full screen.

Note that our BMS supports CAv3 protocol and this app works well with it.
The BMS is available at www.energusps.com/shop

Re: Full balance charger every time.

Having some practice with this kind of individual converters on large(r) batteries I can confidently say there will be fires. Or failed converters at least. Main problem is with connecting them in bulk, with large multi-pole connectors: actual connection sequence is random and the converters get str...

Re: Full balance charger every time.

I of course respect any solution that does the job, but wouldn't a proper BMS be much more reliable? For example: https://www.energusps.com/shop/product/tiny-bms-s516-150a-750a-36 I saw too many DIYers burn down their home just because they did not pay too much attention that one time in 1000 charge...

Re: ULtra Compact 1800W charger

You can't go below certain level, like 30V or so (can't remember exact value). Below that, it will not work as expected, or will simply switch off. This is why load sharing must be implemented. That can be done by coordinating voltages of all chargers, making sure one of then can work in CC mode in ...

I have tested them 2C long-term. Held just fine. Here are some tests I did:

LG D1 3.0Ah 18650 cells [mint]

The cells have around 10 partial cycles on them, so basically new in that regard. They are removed from my bike's build, discussed here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=69638 Stored at 50% SOC at 20°C. Tested a few for capacity and Ri - as new. Note these are real genuine cells...

That was a nice fit inside the frame. Did you rebuild the bike to mid drive? Yes, I have decided to go with mid drive and rv-160 short. My initial plan was to mod the Vector frame, since it is quite easy with this frame. However I did need a new swingarm and a mod on frame. Then I decided I need fe...

Re: ULtra Compact 1800W charger

Yes, BMS controls the flatpack. Now on final stages of firmware. The UART-CAN converter is a nice project on it's own, completely isolated, powered only from one side, also sub-100μA power consumption in standby mode (while still listening to CAN bus). So it can be used as a generic converter, not j...
