Re: GCinDC's Giant DH Comp

Hi Buddy Ahh thanks for the info there, the ebiking year you have had has been quite amazing and your tenacity with the hobby is remarkable,so many people would have tossed the towel in even if they had a 1/4 of the issues that you have had. The quad copter stuff looks amazing and you did take a har...

Re: Is MAC motor gears stripped, or bad hall? (video)

hmm that is either the gears or the one way bearing inside the clutch, if it were a hall sensor it would likely need to be turned before it would spin, have it apart it will soon become obvious, the one way bearings go in those motors easily if you push them, my bearing is going on mine, it starts w...

Re: BMS for LiPo: yes or no? what is it?

battery murdering system Every single BMS I have had the displeasure to use has been an issue, I only use BMS in the charger when charging, under discharge nothing on a day to day basis and cell log alarm monitor on long rides when the pack may go low, everything is disconnected at the end of the ri...

Re: BC168 Charger Misreading Cells

Bin it and dont buy another BC168, they were good when they work but when they fail they fail badly, I stopped using mine a few months back, if you do want to stick with it get fuses in the main supply cables to the unit, my cables nearly melted when it failed on me, pretty sure it was this charger ...

Re: MAC Motor Quit Working

Hi Yes nice clean soldering iron and plenty of heat too, ideally a 50W soldering iron will make a good joint, I have had this happen on more than 1 occasion, its worse the more power you run of course, at 2-3kW it used to happen after just a few miles, any slight resistance in the joint at high powe...

Re: Hyena's super awesome isolated high current balance char

I wouldnt use one of these chargers any more, you certainly dont want to beef up the balance wires, all you will do there is blow your battery balance tap wires when the charger eventually fails, if you are brave enough to use one of these chargers make sure you beef up the cables supplying the unit...

Re: Nissan Leaf EV

Yes its a nice car for sure and thanks for the comments on the video, the car is now made in the US and here in the UK, both sites also make the battery packs for the cars as well, yes this charger is 50KW, its fine for occasional use or on long journeys, charging to 80% and not letting it drop low ...

Re: Hyena's super awesome isolated high current balance char

Hi Jay OK usage is 1 x 2hr charge at 8A every 3 days, so nothing heavy 4 x 6S parallel packs power provided by a high quality switched mode 30A 13.8V supply, temp at the time ambient was about 16 deg c, wires never run noticeably hot? I think what has happened is that the channel failed on the charg...

Re: Hyena's super awesome isolated high current balance char

I think the reports of these spontaneously blowing up when used in the intended fashion are rare Not now! Yes mine went the same way! After about a year my charger has gone the same way sadly, put it on charge as normal last night and went in to check it before bed time which was a good idea as it ...

I picked up the very last of the outgoing models up brand new on a 2013 plate, never been a car person until now! had a loaner for 3 days and that sold it to me, they are affordable to lease, you would be a little mad to buy one outright as its early days for this tech and who knows what t...

Re: Hyena's super awesome isolated high current balance char

You can charge 1 x pack at 8A on this charger with no problems, I sit the wires in the output fan flow from the charger, it keeps them in temp just fine, if you have a metered power supply supplying the charger you will see the charger changes the duty cycle when charging i.e. it doesn’t charge flat...

Re: Hyena's super awesome isolated high current balance char

Good video Ice I agree it is a great charger too and I have had no problems with it, I always charge 4 x packs in parallel on the board, when I unplug them before I use them i quickly check across the discharge leads with a DVM, if any one pack is down I simply pop it back on the charger on its own ...

Driving for no costs - Video of Solar Charging Nissan Leaf

Ha ha well I thought that I had fixed it. I saw this earlier and could not quite believe what I was seeing, the size and force from that blast must have caused so much damage and many many deaths, so very sad but you have to question the proximity of such a plant to the town and in particular the school and a nursing home? I don’t understan...

Re: Motor Repair BMC or MAC in fact Any type ** FIXED **

Yes all phases were OK on the digital volt meter, intermittent faults like this are a pain but its great when you get them fixed, most of the hub motor manufacturers use sleeving to cover the phase wire to coil joints, well worth cutting them apart and resoldering them if you are experiencing simila...

Motor Repair BMC or MAC in fact Any type ** FIXED **

Hi My main BMC geared motor that I have been using for 7 years now (daily driver) started to play up a while back and as it was too cold outside to fix it I used one of my other bikes in the meantime. I got the bike back out and had a look, the symptoms sounded so much like the gears grinding (it ha...

Re: Kollmorgen 24v 400w brushless for skateboard?

Had a lot of experience with these motors, the built in controllers on these motors suck big time, they fail very quickly, best thing that you can do with them is bake the controller lid in an oven and remove the epoxy and the controller you can then allow more air to flow and you can run an externa...
