Re: GCinDC's Giant DH Comp

Yes I have seen a lot of lipo packs let go, most that I have seen have only smouldered though they can flame of course but often when stifled inside a case especially the old point 1 packs I used to use that had aluminium cases and were full of beeswax and polystyrene! yes I know  they just smo...

Re: GCinDC's Giant DH Comp

those db-25s cant handle eight amps especially is pins were loose etc. It depends on the brand used, I use many different ones for differing projects some are rated at 17A at 100V DC the spec totally changes as some have nickel silver pins, some gold, sure some are only rated for a couple of amps s...

Re: Hyena's e-bike builds (now with HD video)

Hey Jay Not bad first attempt, trick it so feather your rear brake to stop you going to far back, you dont need much to find the sweet spot, on a normal mountain bike I can wheelie for miles even with no front wheel in, just takes practice, I havent tried it on my ebikes because the batteries are on...

yep Ping is the only pack I would trust for family members, hobby packs are only for the technically aware members of the family IMHO unless they are of course hobbyists, kinda goes in hand in hand

Thats amazing buddy and yes I see this all the time, a while back folks were saying to me why dont you make your ebike go faster than 30mph surely you want it to do 40 at least? and my answer was no because car drivers will still overtake me, they see bike and they think overtake overtake overtake I...

Dreamliner Lithium Ion Battery fires

Well publicised fires on board Boeing dreamliner planes, pretty serious and I would bet this is more down to how they are being charged and supported rather than the cells themselves. I had to laugh though, on the news they showed a picture of the burnt batter box and said, this is the battery in qu...

This sounds like a load of old balls if you ask me they are scare mongering you... If the po po in Oz have time to randomly pull over cyclists who have not yet committed any apparent crime to check if their pushbikes are legal then all I can think is you lot are pretty well behaved in oz and the po ...

Re: Dear America,

Yes great post Mike One of the saddest events that I have heard of in a very long while, the two things I find so sad about it is 1, that it happened and 2, that it wont change one thing about gun ownership a 1000 kids could die it wont ever change over there, we use the word fundamentalism a lot th...

8) Hey man great to see that you are back on your bike!! hope you heal quick brother, you are right about the cold too, its been -4 deg c here with freezing fog, now for our Canadian and north American friends that would be considered mild, but for me at 35mph on my ebike you can take that -5 deg an...

Re: huge lipo fire , not cool

Again another bulk charging error here, its so dangerous IMHO unless you are close to the pack and have means to get the pack out of the area quickly should all go wrong, this and the last few fires we have seen on here have been caused by 2 things, bulk charging and complacency :| If you really mus...

Re: Lipos on fire!

yes pleased that you didnt burn your house down, I still dont think anyone should bulk charge lipo unless they are within feet of the pack and have means to put out any fire that may start, unattended bulk charging is to be seriously avoided, there isnt much wrong with RC chargers and I still dont k...

A bit of a pain in the ass but I think I have one coming my way. Yea... another stupid device I'll need to dick with. Re: Kollmorgen motor

Hi Yes I have done this to 2 Kol motors myself, I used to run them at 1.5KW and whilst they work well the magnets tend to split and crack from a combination of the high RPM and the heat, if you are lucky the glue just breaks free and you can slide the magnet off the rotor intact and glue it back on....

Totally missed this thing, looks like a better solution than the cyclone in terms of fitting and makes a nice kit for the girlfriends bike if you like but I cant see that 450W or even 1KW is going to light the fires under some of the folks on here, I suppose it depends on what you want to do or wher...

Re: Tablet advice - iPad or Android?

Luke, the problem is the way other laws are structured, too. Here, for example, they can (and do) seize ISP records and if they find that your IP has been connected to dodgy services (child porn, for example) then you can carry the can for it. That in itself is a strong incentive for people to not ...
