Re: Recumbent

Thanks for weighing in. Good to get second opinion Photo enclosed (the chain is rusty - just proof of concept at the moment). The mid-drive is a dual sprocket, the inside fixed sprocket goes to the nuvinci 360, the freewheel sprocket is the outer, which goes to the front 3-ring crank. There won't b...

Re: Recumbent

I am not sure how your setup looks like, do you have a freewheel on your crank today? If you do, none of the standard torque sensors work without a lot of DIY. Only one I know of would be the one in the CYC X1 kit with their gen2 freewheel. They sell them separately in their shop. I would recommend ...

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

Correct me if I am wrong, but wont a brushless motor produce voltage by just spinning it, just like a brushed motor...? Dont know if I am reading it right, but were you still moving when you hit the switch? Disconnecting the battery while the vehicle is still running and the controller has nowhere t...

Re: baserunner programming - necessary?

If it runs on throttle but not with PAS your problem is probably cycle analyst setup og PAS sensor. Does the little figures below the P and D in the PAS setup menu move consistently if you pay attension in a full revolution of the cranks? What does the RPM menu say when you ride the bike? Any limite...

Re: Off Road Throttle which one do you prefer?

On my ebikes I have gears and dropper post on the right, so thumb throttle goes on the left. The one that Balmorea posted is by far my favorite. I like to peddle, so I am relying 99% on a well tuned torque based PAS, though. Sometimes I havent touched the throttle for the whole trip. On my motorcycl...

Re: LTO battery question

Yeah, I agree, dont remember why I used it, Im using 0.01 on most of my other packs. Point was that the BMS does a nice job on a 80Ah pack. Its a big leap up to 180Ah, but as long as the cells are OK quality, I would think it should work. Also its free to try :)

Re: LTO battery question

Its only a 18s 80Ah pack (I have put in 70Ah in the parameter settings because I only charge ti 4.1v), but here is a snapshot of the latest build I have made with this kind of BMS. I dont remember what the delta on the cells were, but I think it was around +/- 0.05v. Not perfect. I let the balancer ...

Re: LTO battery question

Honestly, unless some of the cells have huge self discharge I dont see why this would not work with the current BMS (but better settings). Bleed off group 1, 5 and 11 and set it to balance above say 2.5V, then let it sit above that voltage and do its work. As long as it stays in that voltage range i...

Re: My attempt at lightweight, torque based EMTB

Hmmmm, that might be a great idea. At least move it a few cm to the side so the huge "box" where the wires come out does not need to sit on top of the stem. Might have to re-do some cabling now :)

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

If it is a brand new controller, it might be that the field weakening settings are something completely different than what the manual and the description says. I had loads if trouble wit a new controller, and got a lot of help from the community. Read back a few pages, I started to post my problems...

What is the max balance current on that BMS? A: 10-200mA balance current Does it increase with a wider delta, slow down as they get closer? A: No, not that I am aware What is the minimum "start balance" cell voltage? A: There is defined a maximum of 4.6V, but no minimum voltage defined. &...

Re: My attempt at lightweight, torque based EMTB

Thanks! I used PETG. Great stuff that prints almost as easy as PLA when you have heat and retraction settings dialed in. Stronger than PLA and a lot easier than ABS. And doesnt break down out in the elements like PLA. Holding up great so far, but I've only had it for a few months, so not much of a l...

Re: do not buy any yalu engine, they are rubbish mine has broken in 3 days, you did not waste money.

It looks like a brushless version of the MY1016, which really does sound like a coffee-grinder. If the chips are from the freewheel it might be just the "normal" noise from the motor :?

Re: LTO battery question

Im using the same BMS on different setups, one on a 80Ah pack, and it works perfect without any extra balancing boards. You need to get the settings right, though. Can you post the rest of your settings? It looks it has shut down the balance circuit due to too much difference between cells. That is ...

Re: Polaris 6x6 diesel(!) conversion build log

- Printing bushings in TPU actually works! Have no idea for how long :p

- Proper tires = more fun

- Added less deadband in cheap thumb throttle

Think I need to adress the noise this thing makes next. The 520 chain spinning at 4500 rpm and the straight cut gears in the transmission adds up!

So I re-printed a cycle analyst mount as close to the stem as possible, then made some wrap-tie mount around the stem. Think it turned out OK, but it is quite a big unit with a lot of wiring this thing.... Tried to clean it up a bit, but its not easy to get it perfect without a lot more job than I a...

Re: Ebike batteries to help charge cabin..

The BMS doesnt reduce amp from the battery, it just cuts it when it gets too high. That being said, I thought the mppt controller limited the current based on max output...? That was how I was planning to charge a 12V battery with a 66V battery that is capable of 450A at least. I have not got around...

Unfortunately there's not much to choose between if you want torque sensored mid drive for 100mm+ bottom brackets. Do not get the tsdz2 unless you really like broken spindles. The lightest.bike kit as mentioned before looks super interesting, but I dont think they are shipping those out yet. Its alw...

Ah, I see. Will be interesting to see what you come up with. I have a bike running a Aikeema 75sx, and ordered a Bafang G370 for the other bike. Efficiency on the Bafang is quite poor, and I have no idea about the Aikeema. They are smooth and light, which was important for me. Alway looking for bett...

Have you ever considered mounting one of those small kickbike dd hub motors as mid drive? Just shave off the wheel-part and it should be quite small.

Before referring to ports (which is easy) I'll say your config is correct and its at top parameters, the jitter is at maximum and so the other values of calibration, you shouldnt touch them if the motor is spinning smoothly because they are meant only for phase sine wave timing (flux weakening RIGH...

Agreed. We will aim to support inputting higher PAS pole capabilties in future releases. Any news on this, or other smart workaround? I have a 36 pole torque sensor on one of my bikes. I would never go back to tubes on my trailbike or fatbike, so not feeling the hate. The amount of flats out in the woods has dropped to pretty much zero. Re: Polaris 6x6 diesel(!) conversion build log

Got around to install the Cycle Analyst yesterday. This Votol controller has been a pain to set up, as some of the parameters on this EM150sp seems to do completely different things than the same parameters on my one year old EM150sp. I finally got it to run decent, then wired it to be always in spo...
