Have you checked the cost of LFP batteries lately ? Plenty available commercially, but you will be pushed to find quality cells much under $500/kWh . How much power do you anticipate using ?
.....your existing 2.4kW system cannot be producing much more than 8-10 kWh ?
What capacity of panels are you thinking of adding ?

Popular for whom? I'm single no family. But you are right the SUV's are everywhere 10-20 mpg. They are singing the blues. Again maybe you have not noticed...not every SUV is a V8 Hemi.. .....mine does 40+ mpg without trying to save fuel. ( it is not uncommon to get 50+ mpg on a steady highway run)
