Re: Lucid EVs?
Luke, this sealing to prevent salt vapor ingress is obviously important. Which vehicle packs do you believe manage this issue best ?....if any ? From which vehicles perspective, this would mean the ones with potted cells. Fortunately, while no companies start out potted, many of the ones who stayed...

I'm sure that we heard this before but made the Local news again. Toyota has entered into a joint venture with GM to produce EV's and phase out all ICE by 2035. Last year or two Toyota had not planned to move away from ICE. The pressure must be one. The POLITICAL pressure is certainly on,...but we ...

It'd sure be nice to invest in companies that invest in clean-tech just how do you find them? Or you can think latterally and invest in a technology that will actually work, rather than just be a virtue signaling waste of money ! I was referring to Governments “investing” our tax money more wisely ...

Have you checked the cost of LFP batteries lately ? Plenty available commercially, but you will be pushed to find quality cells much under $500/kWh . BYD/EG4 LFP batteries for behind the meter storage are currently going for $294/kwhr. (5.1kwhr for $1500) Been stable at that price for over a year. ...

Re: Adding more solar to my existing off grid setup
How much power do you anticipate using ?
.....your existing 2.4kW system cannot be producing much more than 8-10 kWh ?
What capacity of panels are you thinking of adding ?
Do you want/need to go grid tied ?

EV truck development.
With all the media being focussed on Tesla, Rivian, and Nikola in the heavy truck EV field , and Nikola now claiming to be ready for mass production,.....it came as a bit of a surprise to me that there are quite a variety of EV trucks already in use from multiple manufacturers and in many classes of...

Popular for whom? I'm single no family. But you are right the SUV's are everywhere 10-20 mpg. They are singing the blues. Again maybe you have not noticed...not every SUV is a V8 Hemi.. .....mine does 40+ mpg without trying to save fuel. ( it is not uncommon to get 50+ mpg on a steady highway run)

Re: gas price thread
Buying in enough volume to mass produce a car would cut the price by half or more. Tesla is using LiFePO4 in its next Model 3 partially as a cost saving measure over the lithium-cobalt chemistries it has been using. I've read that they're targeting $200/kWh. Sure, if you say so,.. and folk like Mus...

Re: gas price thread
. ........ That is how you keep battery costs down for a given amount of range. I think a $10,000 EV that can comfortably seat 5, accelerate like a typical ICE car, approach 150 miles range @ 70 mph, and top more than 90 mph is possible. And you could use a 15 kWh pack of cheap LiFePO4 batteries to...

Re: Dealers unhappy over EV charger costs.
Nah, just approve on the basis that it is a “Green” development, off grid, that must be self sufficient using only solar + battery power source !
Isnt that the objective for the future anyway ?
Or is there some problem with that solution ?
