Re: Revolt Rv-120/ norco aline ( mid drive)

Hi PunxOr, if you look at the earlier posts, the motor sprocket is 11 teeth and the wheel sprocket is 52 teeth, giving a ratio of 4.72:1. The 16 tooth freewheel he is talking about is on the back wheel for the pedaling drivetrain, not the motor drivetrain. From memory the motor has a kV of around 45...

Re: Kona Stinky, no pedals, big block on swingarm.

I have fitted the front sprocket to the motor and spliced the chain to length, so starting to look more like a bike.. Re: 2 speed mid-drive build

Hi again.. Now I am home and using my big monitor I see what I missed first time on the small screen of my laptop.. the big gear on the output shaft is recessed on the face next to the smaller gear, so is disengaged in the position shown in the photo. I had thought it was flat, and therefore the dog...

Re: 2 speed mid-drive build

Hi KSI, good work. Those thin cutoff discs are certainly a good invention.. I keep finding new ways / reasons to use them. Nice work with the Dremel.. how long did it take to form the groove? You could probably mount the Dremel across the lathe and use it to grind the face of the hand-cut gear if it...

Re: Downhill project motorcycle transmission

Hi Eco, Great that you have it going and performing well. I had been trying to guess what my (and other) high performance e-bike would be like to ride, and had realised about the higher centre of gravity and shorter wheelbase compared to a dirtbike, so your analysis of the experience sounds pretty m...

Re: 2 speed mid-drive build

Hi Ksi.. Looks interesting. I think that a compact, light 2 or 3 speed gearbox coupled with a good electric motor could offer some real advantages. For my build I have chosen a larger motor that I hope will give good torque at all speeds, but a smaller motor able to spin at higher rpm at low speeds ...

Hi Stielz, Good to see another Kiwi working on an exciting project. I'm just down the road in Otaki, and I am building something vaguely similar (although I have lost the pedals along the way.. not sure that was a good idea, but committed to it now). Here's my build thread: http://endless-sphere.com...

r3volved: I support the idea of using Epoxy Putty to adapt the bracket to exactly fit the bike's downtube. I have used it in several similar situations and have always been happy with the result. Obviously there are different brands / qualities of the putty. but it will be loaded in compression, whi...

Awesome build! looks great. With that motor it should fly! Subscribed..

Are you using regen braking? If so, does it work well? ( I am asking because I am building something quite similar and plan to use regen braking).

What chain are you using?

Comet Kart supplies originally sent the wrong front sprocket, but they came through and put it right.. sent the right one for free as soon as possible, so now it has arrived I have to adapt it to the motor shaft. Also The Magura throttle arrived from John Holmes Hobbies (supporting those who share t...

Hi misterb, I'm building a bike similar to your description.. here's the link: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=58313 I'm trying to get a good result for reasonably little effort, and learn a lot while doing it. I could build another frame afterwards and swap the motor etc a...

Re: BIG BLOCK GNG alternative Motor

Hi 1kW.. That 36V 500W motor on BHTs website is rated at "300 - 3000 rpm, maxi 5200rpm". As usual, no real or useful information like kV, but from the physical size and weight I suspect it has to spin fast to develop its power, in other words it would have a higher kV than either the BHT 1...

Hi Sparkzz, Welcome to the forum! If you spend time looking through various threads in the forum to find builds similar to what you want to achieve, you will get a many ideas and learn a lot. That is what I did when I first found Endless Sphere, and I have learned so much. One of the great things ab...

Re: Kona Stinky, no pedals, big block on swingarm.

At last, a bit more progress! I have welded and braced the front brackets of the swingarm, and started to work out the details of the motor mounting plate. I have drawn up the brackets that will connect the swingarm to the suspension linkage, and started to work out possible mountings for the contro...

I ordered my batteries AFTER the e-mail arrived from Hobby King about the Australian warehouse. I clicked on the link provided and proceeded to order from there without leaving that site. My comments above relate to that situation.. It would not let me ship 6S batteries even two at a time, but 5S it...

Re: Kona Stinky, no pedals, big block on swingarm.

I have just ordered batteries for my build, and found an interesting variance between shipping of 5S 5000mAh batteries and 6S 5000mAh: The 5S batteries (6 or 8 of them) could be shipped in one shipment, but the 6S had to be shipped separately, one battery at a time. The batteries are Turnigy 20C LiP...

Re: BIG BLOCK GNG alternative Motor

Thank you Riba and Spinning.

I had thought 6 pole was the most likely, but it is good to understand how to figure it out.

Our motor on 18S won't be using even half of the standard Kelly's max ERPM so all good from that point of view.
