Jesus the Father.jpg I pray to the Father... Jesus Christ.... Jesus the Son.jpg ...that this crazy hack to stiffen up the Motor Mount will never surrender !!! So yeah, it kind of looks like a cross but it seems strong enough for the job. I'm calling it a win and moving on. It still ended up very li...

Re: Cells in parallel vs whole packs
POUCH In one word you solve all the problems relating to parallel. Use pouch cells as big in amp hour as your design requires and just do a simple series string of them. But then you devote your time to pouch compression and making sure those tabs are tightly connected... so it's always a tradeoiff...

Re: Cells in parallel vs whole packs
Ultimately all packs are defined by the weakest cell. So if you have two series strings which you then combine as parallel "afterwards" then the weakest cell will exist "somewhere" in one of those two series strings. Let's take an example: Series One: 10.1 ah 10.2 ah 10.3 ah Seri...

Re: Aluminium v Steel hybrid Bike
The rating for battery is 48v. 14.5 amp hr. Am I asking too much to try and achieve a range of 110 Kms?? So 50v * 15ah = 750wh roughly. Assuming 100km then that's 7.5 watts per km. My "guess" is no... you will more than likely output double that if not more. Instead let's assume 25 wh per...

Re: Aluminium v Steel hybrid Bike
I build my ebikes out of mild steel and have my own welder.
From a DIY perspective steel is easiest.
But if you only plan to use an existing frame I think Aluminum is fine.
My most recent project uses an Aluminum frame because I broke the old Aluminum swingarm.

I'm reminded of this long-tail thread The typical distance from bottom bracket to rear wheel axle is about 15". My swing arm is 30". So what the "double rear end" does is the same wheelbase, but mine pivots forward more. The wheelbase on this bike is 55". https://endless-sp...

Today's invention is for people who enjoy polluting air with massive amounts of horrific perfume smells. Some cultures use smell as a form of chemical warfare. Re: Burned up my first motor
Put a 70T in place of the 53T and you get a 24mph. 14T-98T in #219 would give the same 24mph. Actually if the 70T would fit on his bike yeah... great idea. Do they sell them that big? What outside diameter would that be? My guess is it will be bigger than 10" because that's what a 100t #219 tu...

Re: Burned up my first motor
I get away with an 11t to 100t... the 100 tooth sprockets are rare. 14t to 98t gets you 7 to 1 reduction. One thing... anything below 12t and you need a roller AFTER the power runs past the front sprocket to keep the chain wrapped tightly. Smaller sprockets will skip if you don't add a roller. More ...

#219 Go Kart Chains :bigthumb: Very small pitch to allow high gear reduction ratios and very strong because they use them on 15 horsepower go karts. You can buy the rear sprockets on eBay for $20. Re: Burned up my first motor
72 volts to get to 4900 rpm means a kV of 68. So at 10 volts you spin at 680 rpm. 10 tooth to 53 tooth means 5.3 reduction. Then 10 volts translates to 128 rpm at the rear wheel. By the time you reach about 40 volts your speed would be something like 30 mph I would guess. The bottom line... and what...

Has anyone done something like this? Basically a recumbent trike with side pods for cargo. I'd love to hear more about this idea, perhaps in another thread. I'm mulling a plan to build one or two off-road fat tadpoles for overnight camping in places accessible via jeep trail or fire road. Not stric...
