It seems a big gamble to go with an unproven motot / controllet set up...

..... My guess is that karts have been around long enough that the argument is karts have never had roll over protection, not that not having seat belts or roll over protection is a good idea. It has been reviewed many times.. The conclusion is that it is safer to be thrown out of a Kart (and Bike)...

Re: Motorsport, Racing, The Future

“Big Budget” ICE kart motor classes are the result of tuning small (125cc) 2 stroke motors to the ragged edge of 20,000rpm. Like Top fuel drag racers, ..they dont last long, and a fresh motor for each race is essential if you want to be competitive. BUT, they are the top line classes, not the grass ...

Hyundai also tried the sofware fix to limit the max charge... ...but once they had a fire in a pack with the latest software, they reconsidered the options. 12 fires in 86,000 cars. Hyundai maintain the pack replacement is primarilary to ensure their reputation for “customer care and safety” rather ...

Re: Motorsport, Racing, The Future

The thing with Teslas is that a "Spec" class always survives on reasonably priced, common, fairly low powered, good handling cars. Teslas aren't any of that. Would be a rich man's novelty game and honestly few of them give a lick about EVs. Yes, the secret to successful and a wide adoptio...

Rallycross is a booming series worldwide, with many major manufactures represented. Spectators like to see something much like their road cars being raced...even if the mechanicals are nothing like stock. The races are spectacular , but short..less than 10 mins, so idealy suited to EV power. Ford, P...

Aluminium Air cells for EVs..explained.

This is a good explanation of the Pros & Cons of Al/Air batteries It explains the chemistry, how they are constructed, their theoretical advantages (8 kWh per kg ! ), and their practical limitations ( 1.2 kWh/kg ) and how a 140kg battery can give 1000km range with a 90 sec “recharge” using a 40k...

And Tesla ?? ...refused to cooperate !!??
Refused to pay JD Powers.
Refused to allow JDP access to national service data.
So JD powers surveyed 39 states worth of Tesla owners to compile a “representitive” result.
... Which was not good.....to say the least !

Re: Kona EV , battery fires..Recall.

There was A lot of “fake news” about the Tucson “engine fire” issue . It was nothing to do with the engines, it was actually a electronic component on the ABS brake control module , that is located under the bonnet.. it was actually a fairly standard “low risk” recall situation and minor compared to...

Re: Kona EV , battery fires..Recall.

More details indicate it will be 85,000 vehiles to recieve a replacement pack at a cost to Hyundai( +LG ?) of approx us$900 million ! That would imply a “factory cost” of aprox $10.5k per pack ( 64kWh) ..or $165 per kWh I believe GM are doing a similar recall/replacement on a similar number of Bolt’...

Three major market competitors agreeing even a common voltage is more than a little unlikely. One point.. Whilst they state they are for “Lithium” barreries (or lead), the only data quoted is for LiFePO4 chargers.. IE, the 48v “Lithium “ spec states a CV charge of 54.6v ...way to much for a 48v 12s Lipo ot NMC type lithium pack. And the 72v , 3A , charger spec you linked to (20s, ? Lipo/NMC ...
