The new version of Firefox is loading pages very slowly on Ubuntu. The workaround is to use Swiftfox (Google it).

Welcome to the sphere, sjohn, and thanks for the suggestion. I don't think I was using a beta, I think I was using a final version 3.5 . Regardless of that a lot of people have complained about slow loading in the recent past - some have suggested that it's due to ipv6 and to disable that. That didn't work for me and in fact Swiftfox is now suffering from nearly as slow loading. I don't know what's going on but I haven't got to the bottom of it yet. If you have a good solution let us know.

I had the same problem, slow firefox in Karmic - 9.10. I tried different browsers and it didn't help. I ended up going back to 9.04 until a good solution is found.
I also tried swiftfox and it didn't help enough. I still have 9.10 installed on another partition, but I never use it because of the slowness.
Glad you posted this, hope a solution is found :D
