This has to be the weirdest thing I have ever heard of when it comes to bicycling. Some time ago I discovered this guy named Ted, he was planning to cycle 1400 miles from Melbourne Florida to Bartlesville Oklahoma. I was following his trip on YouTube. I just watched his last video and it kinda blew me away.

I am unsure of his condition as it stands now. He appears to be lucid and able to film a little. This is such a shame to, i was really rooting for him, he's a young guy trying to have a big adventure when this happened. I figured Id post this since we are all fellow cyclists regardless of the bikes we ride. This could happen to any one of us and that is a very sobering though. I have already sent him a message hopping he is ok and what not but DAM this is like something that happens in a move not in real life.

I have an update for everyone. I found Ted's blog site. He has had one hell of a trip. Problem after problem after problem then Lightning. His last update said he was in the ER for 3 hours. I don't know if that is good or bad. Here is his blog site.

Getting hit by lightning wouldn't be too good, at least he's ok would be fairly rare to happen, nearly happened to me on my motorbike near Darwin, very top of NT Australia, the dirt road turned to slime and I didn't know where to go so pulled off to the side under a tree and thought not a good idea so hit the road again

He should be working on some new battery technology, hes got a head start that has EVERYBODY jealous! Hes got the gigawatt, now all he needs is the flux capacitor!

Wow... Sailors spend a lot of trouble trying to avoid lightning but the truth is if it's gonna hit you it's gonna hit you... Never thought about this one re two wheels before. I understand cars are a safer option being shrouded in metal on rubber tires... so watt about ebikes festooned with copper wiring? Are we more likely to be screwed by lightning than pedal bike folks?
Curious now!

Mmmm might be a good one for the Mythbusters to sort, I don't think this fellow was on an ebike though,

Got caught in a wild electrical storm in Perth a couple of months back, this was during peak hour traffic and no reports of anyone getting hit by lightning,
