This is a quick global announcement to prepare everyone for the fact that Endless-Sphere will be going offline for a couple hours at 12:00 PST, ie. in [strike]45[/strike] 5minutes. So try to avoid being halfway through writing a long post when this happens!

Cool. thanks for the warning.
I also noticed you redirect all HTTPS traffic to HTTP now... THANKS! I wish I said something sooner, that had been bugging me for years!

Works great!

Indeed seems to all be smooth so far. Huge thanks to Neptronix and Gammaray and a bit of help from MRVass on the well rehearsed and clean execution.

Could it be that Tapatalk is no longer working after the migration?

Indeed that is the case for sure, thanks for bringing this to our attention and we'll see that it gets fixed hopefully within a few days.

So often a good thing gets taken for granted, and isn't appreciated until it isn't available (even for just a few hours/days). Also, the people behind the scenes who keep the machine running are not thanked enough for what they do. A good IT crew is the ultimate Ninja commando team, they save the day, and nobody even notices that there was a problem. Thank you to everyone who participated in upgrading this site, and everyone who keeps it running every day...

The site is wicked fast now. Awesome.

Indeed, I've been quite pleasantly surprised. File uploads have occasionally seemed slow but everything else has been snappity snap. I want to publicly thank Neptronix for leading the charge here to move ES over to Amazon Web Services, that was definitely a great call that all the users here will benefit from.

A few other things you may have noticed. One is that as a result of some database upgrades you can now do 3 letter searches from the search bar fine, which was previously limited to words 4 characters or longer. 2 letter searches are still not indexed, that could be tackled later.

And yesterday gammaray also got us signed up with a proper SSL certificate, so there won't be any more security warnings from your browser or google, as the domain is now fully https'd.

I'm just the wingman with a lot of tips from experience.. gammaray did 99% of the heavy lifting 8)
Give him a hand if you appreciate the increased speed! ( among other things )

I'm glad this happened, because our previous hosting situation was a bit questionable and i have felt like these forums deserved better. So y'all always have my support from a backend perspective :)

Kanadian Krew checking in. Thanks! (to Justin/Skipper AND ES Crew)
(from just a passenger here)

Technically, it was working after the migration, but broke it when we forced all traffic through HTTPS after we installed the new SSL certificate. ;)
Tapatalk now knows that ES is located at a https enabled url thus resolving the issue.

So you should be able to load ES on Tapatalk now, but if it doesn't work right away, try clearing your application cache at : Settings>Apps>Tapatalk>Clear Cache (for Android)
There is probably a similar process for iOS devices.

If it doesn't work after that, let me know!

Thanks. For me clearing the cache (621mb?) was not enough. I had to remove endless-sphere.com from tapatalk and reads it.
Works now!

There's still an issue with the certificate. It's issues only for "endless-sphere.com".
So people using the old fashioned "www.endless-sphere.com" are still presented with a certificate error.

People are discussing it on ES Facebook.

Yeah, the certificate is completely 100% valid for https://endless-sphere.com

We're working on a fix for this, but thanks for your notes.
( we also upped the SSL security btw )

Well, administering a website isn't quite programming. It's more like installing software on a specific computer with a lot of fincky stuff.

We migrated to a new host which would provide more speed and scabalilty in the future. You can now do 3 letter search (search is also much faster) and all the traffic to and from this website is secure. :D
