All we need is for the red to move to the right towards South America for a catastrophic El Niño condition.

There is something not right with that Pacific map and its colour temp zones...
...areas of water at 21C, surrounding large masses of water at 35 C. ?? (North East of indonesia) with nothing inbetween at 22-34C ??
....borders between thermal regions appear very detailed, suggesting multiple fine measurements ? Or just estimated random border definition from few measurements??
An apparent body of water in the Antartic regeon (bottom of map), at 30 C ?

Actually raining here now. Not heavy, but I'll take whatever I can get. This should help put out the fires.

It's coming down fairly decently up here where the fire is. :D By this time next week the fire should be done for. Unfortunately the rain may wash away the unfound remains

I got 1.5" since yesterday. Not bad. Another wave comes in tonight. At least it cleared all the smoke out of the air.

Another 1.75" here over the last two days. I can finally turn my irrigation system off for the winter. Up where the fire was, it looks like they got around the same amount. That should really help put it out.

The amount I got from the first wave yesterday was way below the prediction. The second wave coming tonight was originally forecast to bring 1-2", but now downgraded to about half that. I'll know shortly.

Our best chance for rain is in this band of showers stretching from the Malibu burn area to Catalina Island as it moves eastward in the next few hours.
