Welcome to the Endless Sphere Electric Vehicle Forums!

This is simply helpful information for you to start out with.

We realize you might have limited time, but please read the entire message below, and keep it in mind for future reference, in case you have a question about something--the answer may already be there. :)

Since you probably havent' been here before, it is a good idea to take a look at these posting guidelines and rules, so you will know what can and can't be posted here, and where to post about different things, including where to put stuff you want to sell, and what you'll need to put in the post about it.
Main Forum Rules
Selling New Items -- Rules
Selling Used Items -- Rules
Please note that while we have a marketplace, the point of this forum isn't to sell things--if you're only here for that, it might not be the place for you.

We highly recommend going here and entering your present location, at least a city/state into the Location field, and making sure you've entered the actual country your are posting from in the Country field. (note that anything other than an actual country name or common abbreviation in that field will flag your profile for review as a potential spammer).

There's also more info about the way things work in forum software/etc., in threads here:
Forum Rules and Features Subforum

Before you begin posting, we ask that you take a peek here at the main board index and see which category most closely fits what you want to post about, if you're starting a new discussion topic.

We also ask that before you create a new topic to ask a question, you look thru the resources we have here:

First is the Search page, which has a lot of options and is pretty powerful, but not always easy to use the first time around, and it isn't perfect.

If you have trouble finding things with the search, try this topic for some help:
Search problems, fixes, suggestions and please also post there if something in the search page doesn't work like it should.

The Wiki, with useful articles and explanations about a number of things. If you happen to be knowledgeable about something EV-related that you don't see an article for, please feel free to write one, to help out others.

These are some pointers:
F.A.Q = All the Basic Stuff - Read Before You Post !
How to get the proper advice, read before asking

There are also several threads that are actually lists of other useful threads:
Sticky thread index for "Motor Technology"
Sticky thread index for "Battery Technology"
Sticky thread index for "E-Bike Non-Hub Motor Drives"
Sticky thread index for "E-Bike Photos & Video"
Sticky thread index for "E-Bike Reviews & Testing"
Sticky thread index for "E-Bike General Discussion"
Sticky thread index for "E-bike Technical"
Sticky thread index for "Stand-up Scooters & E-Skateboards"
They may already have the answer you're looking for. If they don't, or you don't understand the way it's written, go ahead and make your thread to ask your question, but please also let us know which resources you already looked in, and if they didn't help you, why they didn't, so we can improve them for the next new member. :)

If you don't try using these resources first, before asking your questions, please don't feel offended if someone then tells you to use the search, or look at the wiki, or stickies, etc. ;)

Ok, all that said, welcome to the forums, and enjoy your stay!

EDIT: The message below is no longer sent, but is left for future reference and use if there ever becomes an automated way to send it.

This message is now sent to all new members as they sign up and I check the memberlist (there's no automatic way to send it I'm aware of).

It's not required reading, but it contains helpful links and stuff a new member might really need.

This is an initial version; please suggest stuff that would be better, or more helpful, or whatever:

There is no need to reply to this message; it is simply helpful information for you to start out with. If you do wish to reply, please use this thread for it, rather than replying directly to this PM, as the sender is not likely to have time to read all of the replies from all the new members that get this message:

This is an awesome idea, and it is well written. Long enough to have the most important points, short enough that new posters will likely read it. Well done!

Thanks. :)

BTW, if any new members did not receive this, it is probably because they didn't come back soon to the forums after getting the confirmation email, and your username doesn't show up in the memberlist until after you click that link ro come b ack and manually confirm. If I don't see it in the list, I can't send the messge to it. ;)

It'd bbe nice if we could automate this message sending so it would be automatically sent out when that confirmation is completed.

A list of considerations for those coming here for advice on building a complete system (bike, motorcycle, car, boat, plane, etc). To get correct advice, we have to know quite a lot about your project.

These questions are necessary, because most of the people coming here to build something haven't considered any of these things, and don't know that they all matter.

These are just a few things to consider, but making a list of them here will help us help you make sure you get the right parts to do what you need the system to do for you. Some of the questions overlap.

All other project details you can provide in addition to these questions will help us help you.

The more stuff you don't tell us, the less likely we are to be able to ensure you get everything you need.

What bicycle/car/motorcycle do you have?
If you don't have a bicycle/car/motorcycle, which specific one do you intend to get?
What exactly do you want the bicycle/car/motorcycle to do for you?
What range do you need, at what speed, under what conditions?
What is the minimum time you require for recharging from empty to full?
What speed will you ride at normally?
What is the maximum speed you need out of it, and for how long at a time?
What terrain will you ride on?
What are the roads like, if it's an on-road system?
What are the path conditions like, if it's an off-road system?
What kind of slopes or hills do you have; how steep and how long?
What are the wind conditions?
What kinds of weather will it be used in, or have to live outside in?
What do you weigh, and what does any of the stuff you would ever carry with you weigh?
Does it need to carry cargo of any kind?
How to you ride? Do you like to gun the throttle, or just gently acclerate?
Do you require quick acceleration, and if so how quick do you need it to be?
Or does it not matter, and taking a mile to reach 10MPH would be ok?
Do you care about legal status of the system?
