Need help building a power supply

Hi members

I need help on an old computer motherboard. GA5AX
What I want to do is replace the one voltage regulator for the VCC3 with a variable power supply, it also gets extremely hot!!
The power supply will get voltage from the 12V from the computer power supply. And must have a variable output of 3 to 4.5V at enough amps.
