Using chrome here, scrolling fine, i7 laptop on wifi.
There is a lot of needless animation.

Re: Forum software upgrade on 11/17/2017 technical issues thread
The pages load and scroll relatively normally for me, without any animated images on them.
I use adblockplus to block loading of various images, including all the animated stuff, because it is extremely distracting (I can get stuck for minutes to hours staring at one, unable to completely break away, or drawn repeatedly back to it and unable to concentrate on anything else on the page, depending on what it is and it's rate of motion).
I do sometimes have my scroll get "stuck" where i actually have to go to the right hand scrollbar and drag it a bit and then the trackball wheel will scroll again. (this doesn't happen except on ES pages, and only since the upgrade, not anywhere else on the same computer, so it isn't dog hair in the wheel
cuz that's what I thought it was to start with, and disassembled and cleaned the trackball). It's pretty intermittent, so I haven't found a direct relation between it happening and any particular thing that is on the page at that time. I had thought it was large images, but its happened on a page without any in view at the time at least once, so I don't think that's it.
I figured it's probably something specific with my browser and the things I have blocked from loading or displaying (ABP and RIP), but maybe it isn't?
The computer itself is fast enough (icore5-6200U 8gb ram) after I hacked out a bunch of win10 crap that caused it to repeatedly pause and make me wait to do anything, and generally made it unbearable (it's still a crappy OS but XP won't run on it; no drivers).

I was having all types of page loading issues on different sites last week until I removed and reinstalled adblocker ultimate (best ad blocker ever) and pop up blocker ultimate ( best pop up blocker ever..) and all the issues disappeared immediately.amberwolf wrote: ↑Dec 05, 2017 2:12 pm

they should have a feature on adblockers to block logo's as google for instance logo's are everywhere all the time.
the problem was all my custom ad blocking I added to the rules to block ads from annoying sites like facebook and a assortment of Company logo's as I feel like Im being brainwashed by them if only slightly.

Okay, since some of you have oldschool computers.. what i've done is slowed the animation of the forum post icons on the left of the category list to about a third of the speed.
Let me know if that helps.. i imagine it will.
The SSL problem is a big ??? because it's a client side issue. If it happens again, take a screenshot please, so that i have more hints on the cause.

Scrolling is still a little jittery but MUCH better. Completely bearable now, thank you!
I haven't seen the SSL issue today, I'll take a screen shot if I get it again.

This morning, scrolling in Chrome is smoother than yesterday. Almost same as Firefox. Must have been more work done on it since yesterday.

Replying to a private message is now failing for me. It worked earlier. Gives me a "you don't have permission..." response:

Okay, that's troublesome that more than 1 person is getting that 403 permissions error.
I have disabled a component i think might be responsible for this weird response. Can y'all do me a favor and see if that made a difference?
As for fixing the memory leak.. i am working 2 jobs and also filling in at another place, so technically i have 3 until next week!
I have not really had a contiguous 4 hour chunk of time to address the memory leak issue, but it is still in the back of my mind to conquer.

Seems to have made a difference. Tried sending PM again. Both previewing and sending worked fine.

I was able to send the PM.
Before, later on, I could not post either, so it seemed to get "worse". I was able to post at first, then not.

Re: Forum software upgrade on 11/17/2017 technical issues thread
I tried the url that Warren pointed out with both Firefox & Chrome and didn't get an error. I have seen SSL protocol error messages reported though but those were only while the database was presumably momentarily down and I was trying to get a webpage using the lynx browser or curl. I do that regularly so if anyone's going to see an SSL error it'll be me. Probably have a text log of it.
ETA. Yeah, I did see SSL errors on a curl test get while the database or httpd was down. While the lynx rather than the test get would give a different error msg. The difference probably being that curl will tend to report errors in more detail than lynx but it's really the same error of being unable to connect. Discontinued using curl & last several errors look like the following. No others seen since the last one below. Sorry, tried using pre tag on following text but result looked awful (text between pre tags too big). Not code so doesn't matter.

I forget if its' already been reported, but
"Enable word censoring"
option set to "no" in the UCP doesn't work to disable that.
It's still censoring even when set to "no".
Switching to yes, submitting, back to no, submitting, doesn't change the results.

Re: Forum software upgrade on 11/17/2017 technical issues thread
Im having a YouTube linking issue , when holidays are over could use a hand with it
For the last month when trying to embed a youtube video instead of embedding it leaves a oddball looking link.
I have tried all methods including using the youtube feature at the top right of the message pane.
My thoughts are its a browser issue , I am using win 10 and firefox in auto update mode so it should be current.
Here it is using the youtube link feature in the message pane

here it is left as a link
<iframe width="560" height="315" src=" ... ></iframe>
And just left without linking etc
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7ITu5WQzg ... showinfo=0" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allow="encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Which is the same as the first outcome , not sure what im doing wrong , appreciate some help ,Thanks !

I just put the blah of the v=blah between the youtube tags. You don't want to do it that way?

So your browser is inserting all that iframe width height src etc. html stuff and you can't remove it leaving only the youtube ID between the youtube tags?
ETA: you can hit the quote button to my previous post & see how it's done.

Re: Forum software upgrade on 11/17/2017 technical issues thread
I'm having a coffee so what the heck I'm back to try again this time using MS Edge browser
Boom Fixed ! Thanks for the suggestion it worked , what the fix was to leave just the VUHBq etc and delete the v=
Problem solved with the Edge browser I will try in a second with firefox but I think my problem is solved now.
