Hey all! We are doing a major system upgrade starting on 11/16/2017! this will take us from the old php3.0.x to the much newer php 3.2.x! Bout 'time!
Major benefits of this transition will be proper mobile compatibility, better image uploads, an improved look, and other features.

Expect the forum to be either be down or in a read-only mode for 24 hours starting on 11/16/2017. It may extend to a 2 day event if there are bumps along the way. I will be working to get this transition done as quickly as possible, but moving 10 years of content ( 7gb of text alone! ) is just gonna take time.

I know you guys are gonna get the shakes , so i will keep you updated on the progress in two different places:
http://reddit.com/r/ebikes ( i post as neptronix there also )
https://www.facebook.com/groups/endless.sphere/ ( i post as david silverman there )

Any news about the subsilver(x) theme replacement?

Last I'd seen was this
https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=89330#p1312158

I hadn't gone back to play with the test board any further because I'd been waiting to hear back about themes.

Prosilver is the only usable theme for me on the test board. As long as that is still there on the new one I guess I'll hack at it to get rid of stuff that's in the way, and see if it's usable enough to get along with.

The others (milk and se square / nx) can't do what I need, even after hacking at them with abp/rip to remove obnoxious stuff from them. The ones with avatars/profile/etc stuff on the right side are completely unusable for me becuase I have to have that on the left so I can see the text and posts and pics on the right.

What is it with putting the month before the day, surely the lesser be first, 16/11/17 makes more sense

all i can think of: 'MERICA

actually year month day makes the most sense for me. added benefit, files with that format in the file name are ordered chronically old to new

Unless it's changed since I got out of the US military in 1967, they always wrote it day/month/year as did most of the world at that time. Suppose it's best to always write or abbreviate the month to avoid confusion.

Hey amberwolf. There is not a good equivalent of prosilver for phpbb3.2, sorry.
I also like the information on the left. After transition, i would like to make a left handed option of se_square neptronix edition, because that bugs me as well.

The rest of you.. wtf.. i am an american, therefore am using an american date format in the announcement. What's that got to do with this :p

Okay, doing preparatory work tonight before the upgrade. Expect the system to be wonky/slow/glitchy tonight. I'm hoping to have the project done in 24 hours, so trying to start making headway now. :D

Preparatory work done. Ready to rock at 10am.

system will be down/up for the next 24-48 hours

Well, doctor, did the patient survive?

I'm trying to figure out how to navigate the new setup. Looks nice so far. Thanks for making it happen. I hope this solves, or at least makes it possible to solve many of the problems we've had.

Never been so happy to see a new post on ES, Fechter! I was wondering if the patient survived, myself!

So yes.. we are back as of now. The upgrade took about 6 times longer than I expected due to performance issues on Amazon during large write operations going at a glacial pace. I was hoping for a 1 day transition instead of the promised 2 days.. but ah well.. 1 and a half ain't bad.

The only thing i know of is that the wiki is currently on the fritz because it needs to be updated to the newest version of mediawiki. Working on that as we speak. Hoping to get it done before bed.

Given that this is such a huge leap... i expect there to be some bugs i never cached. If anyone sees some PHP errors or anything, please report to me so i can look into it.

Thanks, for the upgrade and icing the cake.

You are welcome. I am so happy to finally have this done, and i hope you guys enjoy the upgrades.

Yay! Thanks, dudes.

I don't know if this is going to turn into the complaint thread, but I really dislike not being able to see who started a post, unless you recognize their thumbnail avatar, is there some way to show that instead of who did the last reply?

Mediawiki is fixed.
We had a hiccup due to a database performance issue an hour back. I fixed that and made sure it wouldn't recur.

It's been a crazy 2 days.. i think the worst is over!

That seems to be true of the main forum overview.. but not when you click on a category like this:
https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=13
You can see who started the thread on the left.

it's possible to revert back to the old prosilver theme if that makes things easier for your eyes. This new version is certainly going to force us to retrain our eyeballs.. make sure you check the other thread about the differences between the two versions:
