I am trying to finish off this build and don't know where to go next. I have everything installed, but the chain that came with my 2018 Kona Wozo seems to be too short to slip around the stock bafang supplied chain ring. Do I simply go out and buy a longer chain or is there more too it

Yes, my donor bike had a 42T chainring, and the larger BBSHD chainring made the chain very tight. I broke one of the rear derailleur idle gears shortly after installation as a result. You will either want to buy a chain tool or have the bike shop cut it the right length as a new chain will be too long. If you thread the new chain through the derailleur, cassette and chainring, then pull the ends together until the line between the idler gear axle bolts are vertical. That is about how long it should be. I would buy the tool and pack it in your toolkit. If you chain ever breaks (and there is a lot of power going through it with a BBSHD) you can fix it without walking/hitching home.
