You know, like this?

I have only seen this type of frame sold as a full ebike kit as the super 73 or luna banana.

Will this do? I mean it's probably this years' model but about the same thing.

Yeah, at this point Neps deserves some all hands on deck responses.

Titled "Super 73 eats an SF hill."

Or did you want JUST a frame? https://outpost-shop.com/en/velo/1590-super-73-frame.html

This thing has some serious variants, too.

If they're saying I can have 5 of the 1000w bike under $1k each plus shipping which might push the whole thing a bit over $5k, hmmmmm. I sell the others and it makes mine free.

The eRanger knockoff, https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/bik/d/electric-bike-super-ebike-73/6734860762.html

Oh, a 350w possibility. https://electrek.co/2018/05/30/lithium-cycles-unveils-new-super-73z/

Thanks for the help so far, guys.
Just looking for a frame for the moment.

I noticed the super 73 frame you found on outpost doesn't show the bottom bracket part, which is rather odd..
Looking at the pic of the white chick on this frame, reality is sinking and and showing me that this is a pretty small frame actually.. and i am a tall rider.

Also the fork angle is rather extreme.. i absolutely want to run a front suspension fork at a minimum.

I think i'm asking too much. I've already bought 3 20" wheel frames in the last 3 years trying to put something together with moto tires and each one had a fatal flaw.. including a cannondale hooligan.

I think there's no way out of a custom frame build. Consistently not seeing anything suitable for 30-40mph in the 20" wheeled space, other than the super pricey airnimal rhino... which honestly, i have my doubts about as well.

When I get home I'll look for the 26" I came across, don't remember the look. I was thinking you specifically wanted small, which sounds good to me. But as a 6' 14 year old I raced bmx on the little twenties no problem; if I'd succeeded with a good xgames bike conversion a few years ago my bad leg made an uncomfortable ride anyway.

Maybe I should have taken the 26" more seriously.

Dr chopper sells these style frames out of Philly for ~$650, made by Le-bui.. you could even get the frames customized to your specs ..

26" is normally great but i get flat tires out here no matter what i do with bicycle tires. puncture proof is not puncture proof. Tire strips punctured a tube once. Tire sealants don't last / can't stand up to repeated hits with goatheads. The best answer is MORE RUBBER

20" is nice because it doesn't require expensive and heavy custom wheel spoking for a 17-19" motorcycle size rim.. you can just throw a moto tire on a BMX rim..

But i am 6 feet tall and the short torso, long limb body type so most frames are too small for me. I ride an extra large in mountain bike size.
Looking at the super 72 frame a bit closer, it seems like the super 73 frame is actually a medium size, and some others are even smaller than that.

Maybe the extracycle edgerunner frame will suit this purpose. I notice the fork angle looks relatively normal.. it's the fork itself that is bent forward. Perhaps i put a tall 26" suspension fork up front and a smaller 20" wheel up front and can keep the geometry..

It's heavy and long as hell. The first thing i'd want to do is cut some length out of it. I think money wise, it makes more sense to build a custom frame since a large sized 20" wheel frame that can take a suspension fork and big tires just doesn't seem to exist.

Ooooh! thanks for the lead. I will investigate.

I forgot about that frame. Probably because of the no price listed.

It seems to be pictured with 26" wheels and there is about a foot of distance between the bottom pedal and the ground, which is fine..
Since you can add spacers to the bottom bracket and reposition it, maybe on 20" wheels it won't be smacking the ground..

I've sent them an email with questions and will report back.

last I heard the hopmod ebike frames were selling for around $800 and are compatible with 20, 24, and 26" wheels .. they didn't make it into full serial production but have still been making the frames in batches .. hope you hear back ..

ref: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/voltagecycles/hopmod-ebike-frame-kit

Thanks again.
I can do $800 since i've already blown $1600 on non-solutions.
Maybe since their kickstarter went flat and they're not doing serial production, they'd be open to do a few modifications for 20" wheels.

Looking at the pics on kickstarter, i see 26" wheels and only half a foot of clearance to the ground.
20 inch wheels probably means footpegs and no pedals which is a dealbreaker in my eyes.

We'll see what kind of response i get.

you could also consider 24" wheels with denzel ebike tires
(motocruzin.com got some 24x3 moto tires in but not on their site yet)
24" bike rims can also fit 20" vintage moto tires (same bead seat diameter)

Did not get a response from hopmod about 20" wheel fitment & price. Marking that as a dead end.

As for the Super 73..
The $950 version looks like it's kid sized unfortunately.
Seat height.. 23 inches.
The original super 73 has a 30" seat height.

Email sent.

Nope, lithium cycles will not sell a frame.

Maybe check with Coast Cycles to see if they'll sell you a frame only? They have two models that seem applicable.

Luna was selling their banana bike as a platform only - no motor about a year ago; have you checked with them to see if they plan to restock?

these electric "monkey bike" type ebikes are now available fully sprung from coast cycles in Singapore ..

No luck getting a frame out of anyone to reduce costs.

I ended up buying a used semi recumbent. No shortage of good options with 20" wheels there.

I had an a2b metro once. Wasn't a fan of it at all because mounting a big >2kwhrs battery would be a challenge and the frame measured out to being 15lbs.

Funny... it's like people figured out how to make light strong bike frames a long time ago, and deviating more than a little from the formula results in inferior strength-to-weight ratio. Who knew?
