Lightning LS-218 heads for production

Re EV prices..
Low volume production always results in high unit costs.
But it's a " chicken or egg" type problem....
Once the battery breakthroughs produce a battery tech that has the power and energy density to give the range and weight of ICE powered bikes, and hence make EV options more practical..then I expect demand will increase, driving up production volume and hence leading to greatly reduced costs

Comparing LSR bikes to Circuit Race bikes is pointless.
They are totally different challenges requiring totally different solutions.
Drag racing, motocross and trials , would be other specialist bike competitions that are equally non comparable.

Truer for the gas bikes; not so much for electrics at this point in evolution. The Lightning was the same bike which ran with the best of them on the circuit tracks, still holds the electric two-wheeler world speed record and won the Pikes Peak 2013 race beating all 2-wheelers by 20 seconds over the Ducati and within about 8 seconds of the 2-wheel record. The only differences in the bike for those events were set-up, gearing and fairings. Although never run on a drag strip, we did put an experienced pilot on it to make some passes on a lonely stretch of pavement. He was impressed.

FYI

Due to bad condition salt this year, SCTA Speed Week was cancelled at Bonneville. They ran an event at the Mojave Mile. On August 8, 2015, from a standing start, a Lightning electric motorcycle recorded 209.1mph piloted by Jim Hoogerhyde.

Has anyone got any images of the Lightning stripped of it's bodywork? I'm curious to see the motor, battery layout!
