Bummer😕 certainly makes you wonder how it started, charging prototype batteries is always a dicey proposition though. Racing is all about finding th limits.

Bummer :flame:
The catastrophic fire apparently broke out in a temporary garage space that was shared by all 11 teams.

It appears that all 18 bikes were consumed in the fire, along with the gear and tools used by teams. The shared space housed everything used by the teams, from racing gear, laptops, equipment and driver’s kits – all of it apparently destroyed in the fire.

At this time there is no indication of what caused the fire.
Hmmm, maybe a battery?

A witness claimed a prototype charger started smoking unexpectedly while the bikes were not charging at that time. Then the charger caught fire and caught the tent on fire and spread to the whole paddock. I wish them all well and I'm so excited to see this electric GP series of racing!

Evidently they were only running 10sec behind motoGP laptimes, and this was the first time they had practiced the bikes on that track. That's so incredible it should be making history over the news of the fire, but the media is what it is.

Each mutagen vapor exposure includes a dice roll for reproductive genetic defects in your children.

Each engine start sprays them into a shared atmosphere which includes beings not offered an opportunity to consent accepting these cancer experiences and defective genetics life experiences.

Every post is a free gift to the collective of minds composing the living bleeding edge of LEV development on our spaceship.

Well looks like it is still going ahead - albeit with a revised calendar.

That's probably for the best.

Maybe don't put all your eggs in one basket for a start. A single screw up shouldn't obliterate the entire inventory of an event.

Ideally.

Well... unless the event deserves it.

These folks aren't exactly, you know, good. Excessive unearned money + crass egotism + pointless competition = I don't even know what, but it's gross.

Proper open competition always results in better machinery for general use. One-design competition is crap and usually propagates corruption.

Amazingly I've only had one charger failure, and while it over-charged and killed a 10s pack I had no fire. The Panasonic cells sheared the terminals when they puffed. Since then my chargers are unplugged when not in use, and I put a timer on the electricity supply, so hopefully the next charger failure doesn't kill a pack.

There were many many more fires in the early days of combustion engines including major loss of life, so batteries and all the equipment to support them have proven to be far safer. Too bad the media has to sensationalize everything to the point that the truth is hidden.
