This is my first attempt at building an e vehicle, and thanks to this forum it was a great success. This is my son's now electric quad bike. 1000w brushless motor running on 2x 6s lipo batteries gearing 5:1 perfect for effortless circle work while still reaching a top speed of 46km/h.

Strongly advise you buy more Lipo, imho another 4 minimum should be wired in...

Great work none the less, looking to do adult size quad myself!

Not sure what you mean by this? The one's I have already are 65-130c 8000mah 6s lipo x2 as its a 48v motor/controller and gives him a runtime of just short of an hour I can't see what advantage adding more wieght would achieve?? But as I said, i am new to this, so any helpful advice would be appreciated

Thanks guys, my boy loves it. Next project is a full size quad for the whole family. Re- Phillip, I ended up going with this one from motion dynamics http://www.motiondynamics.com.au/brushless-straight/

Shane has been an awsome help with a wealth of knowledge. The next project will be using their 2000w motor, he tells me today that he has just sent 26 of them to a tour guide company so they can convert their full size quads to e power.

Thanks for link. I would like to do something like this for my kids. Can u show us pic of motor inside quad? Was it a simple swap? How much custom stuff did you have to do?

I've added a photo of the motor that I have on my phone, I'm away with work until the end of the week. When I get home I'll take some more detailed pictures, as for the conversion - it was quite simple the only real engineering was the motor mount bracket as I wanted it to be adjustable so I could change the gearing. The other time consuming part was to get the wiring right for the motor to spin the opposite way as it was setup to be mounted on the other side of the bike. With the help of posts on this forum and a watt meter it took maybe an hour to get the right combination of phase/hall wiring.
