Brushless controller with brushed motor?

Can I use a brushless controller with a brushed motor?

Not unless it is designed for doing both. Some of the old MC3303x based units could be used that way. I doubt many (if any) are made these days, but old ones might still be found.

Easier and cheaper to just get a brushed unit that you know will work without modification.
