17S4P Power/Battery surge

Hi,

I was running a 14S7P Samsung29E pack on a MAC 10T motor. As an experiment, I installed a new 17S4P pack with Panasonic 18650PF 2900 to test at the higher voltage. I didn't get 21% speed increase expected from the higher V, in fact I only got about 8%. Worse, I'm getting power surge under acceleration using above 35 amps. Would that be because I'm overloading the 4P arrangement that I expected would give 40Ah without trouble ?

what is your bms and controller rated at?

hitting 10A on each cell is pushing it for these cells, you will kill those pretty fast at those loads.

Its running an 12 fet 4110 controller. This is only a test at higher volts and normally running is 10-15Ah. The final item will be 7P minimum. Strangely, the power is not cutting off instantly after throttle off.

a 17S should not trigger a error unless the voltage really tanked.
