Yeah, It looks like they had a DNF (Did Not Finish), and I didn't really want to embarrass them.

I like Zero, and I placed them #1 on the electric dirt-bike index, if that is any consolation...

I can guarantee they will be near the top (and likely they will be #1), when I finish an index of street emotos...

Here's what David had to say after the first race.

And here's Zero's take after losing both races to Lightning.

It was an honor to get to figure out how to keep those 4 bikes fast charged between sessions for that event and the rest of the season.
No argument the lightning bike was a next level faster machine, but if you used the event rules it was an incredibly lucky podium sweep.

I have only respect and love for Lightning and was inspired by watching them do 100mph+ wheelies down the straights as a reasonable mans motorcycle should do.

The "event rules" changed during race 2 just after Barnes lost his chain. I could not believe the disrespect displayed to race 2 winner, Tim, on the podium. That was the final straw for my camel's back. I never had anything to do with Azhar again.

Zero Motorcycles was the first manufacturer to enter with four 2012 Zero S ZF9s. The class, known as the North America TTXGP eSuperstock, is only open to entrants who are piloting a production electric motorcycle.

This is enough for me, I will add them with the details. I am a big fan of any class of racing that uses stock vehicles with very limited upgrades (like V8 cars that only have an upgraded intake and exhaust, motorcycles with the same).

Edit: Zero added to article.

Don't forget about the Australians too. Ripperton, Voltron and CataVolt, all 3 are dedicated pioneers and worthy of an entry in your list of historic electric race motorcycles.

Brandon (Electric Cowboy) put in a solid effort to earn the electric land speed record (electric un-faired less than 150kg) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandon_Miller_(motorcyclist)#FIM_World_Landspeed_Records

There was also a reasonable effort by I believe Zongshen (or maybe it was some other Chinese manufacturer) in the 2015 or 2016 European Moto-e racing effort, from what I remember they a DC-Brushed bike and a more powerful AC bike that was doing well, until the Nottingham bike sorted out their reliability / performance issues and started winning everything. I did a quick search just now but couldn't find those race reports, so you might have to do some digging to figure out who that team was.

Not a race bike but for your street emoto index might be worth a mention. Way back in the day on this forum I remember being amazed by I think it was jay 64 built a full size lithium powered motorcycle. Had to of been one of the first. Not sure that build thread still exists.

Thanks for the shout-out Ryan!

Definitely have a read of Ted Dillard's book - he covers a lot of this very extensively.

Best photos of the bike can be found here:

Links in the signature of course ;)

I know of several e-racing bikes but don't understand the context. At first I thought you were only interested in IOM machines but then you added others. Any guidance on what's acceptable? Land speed? Drag racing? etc.

The list is getting long enough that I will likely split off the drag racers and land speed into another list, and there may be further splits later. The original idea is to show new people that electric motorcycles are more established than they might have realized.

Informal polling has shown that many visitors to this website did not know anything about electric motorcycles previously. I was also looking for a trend in the "winners", as far as the configurations of the systems.

It's easy to miss significant electric motorcycles if you don't know what name to search in google.
