I’ve been sifting through the archives and this Honda Cub conversion has been hinted at but not detailed.

I’m at stage zero with this idea. I know nothing about e-bikes/e-motorcycles but I own lots of cubs, passports, and other small cc Honda products.

What I know about my project thus far:

Cub without motor weigh’s: 123lbs + rider weight: 155lbs = 278lbs is what the motor will need to be moving.

I’m considering a rear hub motor as most of the builds I’ve seen use a 3000w. Put on a 16/17inch moped rim...

Everything else controllers, battery, spoke gauges, etc., I know nothing. I’m sure will have loads of questions as I learn more.

My end goal is to have an electric cub that runs 35mph give or take.

So has anyone done this yet? Does anyone have any insights? I’m really keen to learn. Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance.

Cheers

Shanghai customs sells swingarm for hubmotors, hub motor, controller, and other custom parts for cub. There website is under construction but could probably contact them on their Facebook page.

Interesting. I wonder if they will be selling parts to make the conversion or just selling bikes. Will have to wait for their website to be fixed as I don't have a facebook account. ba ha. Thanks for the resource.

I believe they either are or plan on selling parts and kits.
