After designing a few different torque arms for various bike frames, I have a pretty good grasp on technique and attachment method.

Generally, I like to use 1/4" thick 316 Stainless Steel, as it seems to be strong enough for most applications, and is readily available from my various sources.

To date, I have designed Custom Torque arms for the following Bike Frames, and all are available for sale:

  • Genesis V2100 https://www.walmart.com/ip/26-Men-s-Genesis-V2100-Mountain-Bike/47443504
  • Mongoose Dolomite https://www.walmart.com/ip/26-Mongoose-Dolomite-Men-s-7-speed-All-Terrain-Fat-Tire-Mountain-Bike-Navy-Blue-Red/29741123
  • Mongoose Hitch https://www.walmart.com/ip/26-Mongoose-Hitch-Men-s-All-Terrain-Fat-Tire-Bike-Red/42248079
  • Mongoose Vinson https://www.amazon.com/Mongoose-Mens-Vinson-26-Inch-All-Terrain/dp/B00RXNUW5K?ie=UTF8&dpID=51myNs7m6lL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&psc=1
  • Gravity DeadEye Monster Fat Bike http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/gravity/fat-bikes/fat-bikes-deadeye-monster.htm
  • Gravity DeadEye Monster Pro Fat Bike http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/gravity/fat-bikes/fatbikes-monster-pro-bluto.htm
  • Redline Monocog Flight 29er http://redlinebicycles.com/bikes/2014-monocog-flight/
  • Motobecane 529HT 29er http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/mountain_bikes/529ht_29er_mountainbikes.htm

You can purchase any of the above by sending me a PM. Prices range from $50 to $100, shipped.

For bikes not listed above, I will do my best to design and fabricate a set of custom torque arms for your frame. What I will need is a couple good photos, which I can import into my CAD software, and scale accurately. The best way to do this is to take a high resolution photo, straight on shot of each side of your bike's drop-outs, with a metric scale/ruler near the drop-out slots. (See Example Photos below). The metric ruler helps me to size the photo accurately in CAD. I then will engineer a profile for you to review. It will first be mailed to you as a PDF file for you to print, and model up within your frame. If all looks good, I will add your torque arms to my next batch of parts. This process will generally take 4-6 weeks. Cost for new designs will run about $300 for the first set, and $125 for additional sets of the same design, including shipping.

Send me a PM for more info.

Here is the latest custom project.

It's a Redline Monocog Flight 29er, that the owner calls "Kermit".

These are 3D Printed prototypes used to test fit for proper geometery. This set is good to go. Next step is to order the waterjet cut Stainless parts.

This bike will be getting a 6T (6Kv) MXUS 3K-Turbo motor.

Great work Barent. In the middle of designing and making my own custom torque arms and it's not easy.

I'm sure you've already tried but can the axle nuts fit on? Looks a bit tight for space on the photos but the angle isn't quite right to be able to tell.

Add another frame to the list:

Motobecane 529HT from here: http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/mountain_bikes/529ht_29er_mountainbikes.htm

Plastic Prototypes fit nicely. Fits M16 Axles and smaller. Just wait till you see the motor that this bike will be getting. :)
