Lowest Toolpack Pricing

Post by pwbset » Aug 22, 2008 3:29 pm

Figured it would be nice to have a thread for ongoing current lowest priced toolpacks from the popular manufacturers used for ebike builds (DeWalt, Milwaukee, Rigid, Makita etc). During my daily google searches I ran across this deal from toolup.com, which is one of my favorites.

DeWalt DC9360 for $124.99ea with free shipping. That's at or below ebay prices and you don't have to deal with ebay crap. Toolup.com is a good, reputable dealer.

Anyway...

Haha.. sorry dude. :) Been there, hated that also. I'm waiting (in vane no doubt) for my beloved Milwaukee packs to be $80 with free shipping again... man that was a sweet deal. That was like 440+ useable watt hrs of LiMn for $480. Yummy.

Nice link!

Best I have found was $130 each on ebay with free shipping and no tax.
I tried to work a deal for 14 packs at $120 each and he blew me off.

@125 each
$5 * 14 = $70 savings over the price I was about to pay.

Thanks!

5 pack of Milwaukee V28s for $87.60/pack shipped - $438. Probably the best deal out there right now for these batts.

Ebay Listing

EDIT: Still... 364wh @ $1.20/wh (calculating @ 2.6ah/pack). Comparable to the 10-pack of Makita konion (100 cells) from toolup.com right now for $663.15 shipped with 552wh @ $1.27/wh @ 2.9ah/pack under heavy load. I'd take the konion over the emoli any day of the week for sheer power.

I suspect the Bosch fat pack litheon batteries are a better bargain. Basically you can buy the drill kits on ebay w/ charger and 2 fat pack batteries for $200 shipped (even less if you go the live.com cash back route). Each battery has 20 konion cells (10S2P => 36v/2.4ah) so 3 drill kits = 120 konion batteries for $600 shipped (or $450 after 25% live.com cash back) and you get chargers and drills to boot.

The 2-pack Bosch 36v on ebay.com with 25% cashback right now comes out to $82.49 shipped. Figure 37v*2.2ah = 81.4wh on the low end since they really charge to 42v max. So $82.49/163wh = $0.51/wh. Jebus. That's seriously cheap for such strong cells. To compare a 36v20ah Ping pack to 37v22ah Bosch you'd need 5*$82.49 for 10 packs @ $412.45 shipped to your door + ~$75 for a 37v(42v hot) lipo charger = $487.45 compared to $567 for Ping (pingbattery.com source). That's the biggest no brainer I've ever seen! 40a max on the Ping and like 220a max on the Bosch. Haha!

Anyone wanna lend me $500? :P

Looks like Milwaukee is dropping the V18 tool line for the new M18. M18 may be lighter and is rated at 2.8AH vs the V18's 3AH. My guess is that they have new electronics incorporated with the same emoli cells and the lower AH rating is either just more realistic or due to different cut-out limitations.

Anyway, you can get two V18 batteries and a V18/V28 charger for $115 shipped at Amazon.com right now.
http://www.amazon.com/Milwaukee-48-11-1 ... d_sim_hi_4

For someone that specifically needs 36V and values the 5 year 2000 cycle warranty (2 yr 1000 cycle free replacement) this is a decent deal.

[Caveat] I know you can put 2 V28 batteries in series without diodes, but I haven't seen anyone comment on the V18.

[EDIT] I just realised that because the V18 and V28 use the same 3AH cells it might be possible to combine the two in series for 46V.

[EDIT] It seems both the V28 and V18 tool line has been discontinued in favor of the M12 and M18. The $80 V28 price we saw this summer may have been Milwaukee purging inventory and the V18 prices we are seeing now may be the same.

That's a great comparative guys!

And .. dont forget.. the famous wonderfull konions DONT NEED ANY BALANCING.. and the LiFEPO4 need it... that make a difference for the total $

I have a pack i've built for a friend of mine using them and after 147 cycles it is still perfectly balanced! +/-0.005V... over the 144 cells 12s12p

That's the only lithium cells that dont need that...

Great find!!

If you calculate, you will see that for 398usd you get a 48V (16s) 9.2Ah (4p)

That you can charge in 15 minutes!!

Just think about it.. a 485Wh pack for around 500$ including a BMS ( around 75$) + 25$ external parts

A123 are the only one that you can charge in 15 minutes!

28v dewalt packs seem to be on sale again (toolking has them for 49.99 with free shipping). Also, packs of 4 for $195 with free shipping are showing up on ebay (with the listing saying more than 10 available) so if anyone was holding off on getting some cheap A123 cells, now is your chance. If you combine it with bing cashback (currently 8%), cells are getting pretty cheap. See ebay listing 110435625911 or search for DC9280 on ebay.

[EDIT: back to $59.99 as of 1/15/2010]
