Farfle's electromotard. Mk. 4

Heya guys, because the emotarpedcycleracer has evolved REALLY far, I am starting a new thread. I plan on racing with (and beating) the zeros and gassers in the M1GP race series down in socal. :twisted: :twisted: :P

Here are a few shots of it in its current state. Not a whole lot of stuff left to do, After the real spokes get here, and I get the folding pegs and sliders set up, she will be track ready.

Looking good Farfle...what are your intentions for the two pipes straight out the back of seat, mudguard?
Looks very long and low, seat height is low thats for sure.

how is the BMS working? Do you got a few cycles on the battery?

The BMS worked really well until I buggered the thing up. Ill post some details later, but basically the frame became live to the mid-pack buss bar, which then shorted to the screen and killed it. Eason has a new one on the way at a slightly discounted price. (Excellent customer service btw)

Its a little lower than I had expected, seat height is 31" . The tubes are going to be a cargo rack/rear seat for my GF. They will probably get cut off for the racetrack. Speaking of which, ill do that today and take some nekkid pics if the frame and components.

Ahhh kk...i see theres a 'bitch pad' on the back of the bike now Farfle, your girlfriend must have a small bottomz LoL.. Have you had two up on the bike yet? if so how does it handle the extra weight?

We have done 2up on the bike before this guy (same motor diff frame) and horsepower wise it was fine, but the suspension and brakes suffered. The new frame has unlimited stopping power, and much more beef, so should handle it just fine.

One other thing it uas started to do though, is when you apply the brakes lightly, it makes a farting sound. Not a loud flapper fart, but a musical one with a very audible tone to it. :| . Hopefully it goes away as the pads bed in.

Will do for sure man. Probably not going to make a race until may, but when I do you'll be the first to know.

Had a lil problem last night. It seems that my pile of spacers and bolts got too cantilevered, which caused the inner hub to separate from the outer. 8 mangled bolts and an oz or so of ground rubber later...

Worst thing about that is that the gf was on the back for a lil date night.... :roll: . She is super awesome tho, and was suggesting ways we could fix it and keep rolling . :mrgreen:

The new hub is now indestructible. I would be totally confident in 1k+ ft/lb and this hub not failing. Eight 1/4-20 bolts on a 2" radius threaded into the hub, and nutted on the backside. And six 1/4-20 bolts on a 3" radius, also threaded into the hub, and nutted from the backside. Oh, also got the rear brake mounted and bled.

And what happens if you oil the chain? Slippy brakes?

You use an O ring chain that retains oil well, and lube it off the bike. I take it off and throw it in an old crock pot full of motor oil then wipe it clean and put it on the bike. As for the sprockets. They get a dose of super heavy metallic grease. Also, the rear caliper is also REALLY badass (origionally from a fat utility quad with tiny lil rotors) So it doesn't care if the pads are fouled.

Farfle 're: chain lube, I use a goodie made by Belray, no fling off whatsoever, you spray it on wait 15 minutes and it turns from a running liquid to a wax like consistency, will get exact name of it when home if you like...

That would be awesome AJ. Sounds just like what I need.

Made a TON of progress today. I rebuilt the fork with a taller spring shim, and slightly heavier oil. Got all the frame sliders done, the liquid cooling plumbed, the rear brake mounts done, and the rear brake re-bled. Think the lever got squeezed while upside down or something. Just need to lace up the rear wheel, finish the battery hold-downs and trade over to the slicks.

Why do you combine a rear sprocket and rear brake when the other side of the hub i empty?

Thanks man. The reason I run the sprotor, is because its a lil lighter, mechanically more simple, and it looks cleaner. I also started with it, as I had pedal drive on the right.

looks like a holllow tube, i see 1/4 ID on it mabye pour liquid N2 in there between "heats" :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

We had an AMAZING time racing supermoto at pats acres. Bartimaeus did an awesome job riding, and towards the end of the day was very competitive mixing it up with a yamaha and a bunch of KTM 450's.

The bike can walk a stock 450, but was a touch slower than the 613cc factory racing overbore/ stroked monster ktm :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

We had a pretty competitive rider take it for a spin, he was a little doubtfull riding onto the track but after the first lap he was on the hunt catching up and passing a few of the other bikes. 9 laps later when we were finally able to flag him off the track (he went in with a half full battery), he was grinning from ear to ear, the first words out of his mouth, were how much he could get one for, and that that was the most fun he has had on a bike in a long time. (I think we have a convert :mrgreen: :twisted: )

We were pretty stoked. Here are some pics of the event.
