the message will sit in your outbox until the recipient has opened the message you sent. (after they opened the message, you can find it in the sent messages folder)

Yes consider it a "feature" of the board! Your message has indeed been "sent" it is just not yet been "read" by the recipient.

issue with pm's in the outbox?

Postby chopper_elec » Fri Oct 12, 2012 2:14 am

Hey all,
I was just sending some PMs on the forum and noticed that 3 of them are in my outbox but not in the sent file. Could there be something I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Anyone with Problems with sending PM's here?

Postby imorton » Thu Jun 06, 2013 10:24 am

Good day, i hope this is in the right location.

I am having problems sending PM (private messages) to a member here. i have been in contact with him for the last few days, but since last night, nothing.

I hit the REPLY button, compose the message, yet the message gets put in the OUTBOX but never gets sent?

I have hit the "delete all board cookies' and flush my cache. I have tried Safari, Firefox and even my iPad.

Anyone else having issues?

IAN.

they remain in your outbox until the receiver reads it.. then it goes to your " Sent Items "

he simply has not read them yet... until he does you can edit your msg from your outbox or delete it etc. 8)

PM stuck in outbox

Postby pdf » Fri Aug 09, 2013 10:13 am

I have a PM I tried to send several days ago stuck in the Outbox for days. What could I be doing wrong? I have sent PMs before without a problem, although I did have one take a day to actually be sent.+

Unable to send Private Messages

Postby TyJedi » Tue Jun 24, 2014 11:31 am

new to the forum. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I seem to be unable to send Private Messages, and I was not sure what else to do. I tried to PM Amberwolf but since I can't send PM's, I am somewhat stuck.

Is this happening to everyone, or does it have to do with my new status? I am in somewhat of a dilemma here as I have an urgent communication with another member pending.

Thanks,

Ty

State the error that makes it not work. If its in your outbox, he hasn't read it. Whats your problem that required you to PM him?

Sorry, misunderstood how this worked. I thought it would show up in "SENT" folder. Now I understood why it was in the outbox. He just PM'd me as well, so we are good.

Sorry for the NOOB mistake!

Thanks,

Ty

Private messages

Postby Brute » Fri Jul 24, 2015 7:48 am

Hello
Often when I reply to a pm the message shows up in my outbox & not in the sent items . Does this mean the message has been sent ? Do they eventually go from the out box to the sent items? If not how do I get them from the outbox to resend ?

When recipient reads/views the message it will populate from "outbox" to the "sent" folder.

Admin note:

This comes up frequently. When you send a PM message, it will stay in your Outbox until the recipient reads the message. Once the message has been read, it moves to your Sent messages folder. This way you can tell if your message has been read.

Aha! Thanks. There's no "Help" documentation, so I'm glad y'all answered this. Relieved to know I hadn't done something wrong.

I PM'd someone and I ended up sending it to myself.
So I waited for days for a reply, but I wasnt in a rush either. Then I checked to see the flow of conversation.
And realized I messaged myself.
I have done that a few times now.

It only leaves your outbox when the recipient opens their inbox. Not when they log in.

thanks for that. but does it send the person a notification that I sent them a PM. Seems it would need to leave my outbox for them to even know I sent them one.
