Maybe they deleted the app, i have it in the icloud so i can install it. The only way to install it is downloading the e-s.ipa file and install it via itunes, it requires jailbreak, i don't know where that ipa could be either.

Hi there,
I just joined the board - I tried searching "endless sphere" in tapatalk2 on my ICS Android device - no luck.

How can I add the board to my tapatalk 2?

regards from Germany,

Christian

ES Mobile app - make easier for mobile users

Post by BATFINK » Aug 28, 2012 4:25 pm

Hello moderators,
I still have the mobile app for iphone that someone created for the forum but recently someone asked me for
a copy as it was no longer available, i dont know why but its a great app. i also like to access my forums from an application called tapatalk,
it allows me to post photos etc which is usually impossible from a mobile device like an iPad,
would it be possible to add the site to the tapatalk database so its easier to access for mobile user
http://www.tapatalk.com/index.php thats the link and its only a few clicks to activate it.
Thanks batfink

Could a moderator look into this, would make it easier for users to share content from mobile devices. Post pictures etc.

If you go back and read the stuff from last year about the abortive takeover by Trevor, you will find that he (or his partner(s)) created that app and AFAIK own it. If you want it available you would need to find and talk to him.

I was a member when all that happened but don't remember much said about the ES app. It's a good app for the site. Registering the site with an app like tapatalk would save anybody maintaining an app as that app is universal for all forums so really it would just be a case of adding ES to there database so people can access it. I think it's probably Justin who needs to sort this but he's a busy guy running a business.

enabling tapatalk gives open access to a 3rd party in ways that i personally would not aprove of.. but that's justin's call..

I browse the forum on my Droid phone using the browser, i tried the app back when it came about but i prefer the browser method..

Whatever you guys think. I am using the ES app still. It's just I had been asked for the app which I supplied to one if the members but he couldn't use it as it couldn't be signed on his computer as its no longer available on the app store. I thought u just had to add the address to the tapatalk database. I didn't realize there were any major concerns to doing this. I emailed Justin already to see if he would take up the task but didn't receive a reply so I won't pursue this any further, especially since there's no positive remarks for it from any of the members.

I'd say that if tapatalk gives too many permissions, the best option is to have another theme available which fits mobile browsers a little better. I get by with my nexus one on the forums, its just a kind of painful experience.

Who uses E-S on an Android phone?

Post by voicecoils » Apr 28, 2014 5:43 am

I might be a bit late to the party, having used iPhones exclusively for the last 7 years.

Just got the Nexus 5 today, but despite the 5" 1080x1920 display, E-S is hard to read on it. Tiny tiny & thin font in Chrome.

Would love to hear any tips, about E-S browsing or anything else Android related, having left iOS.

Excellent! I've downloaded Tapatalk and am trying it out now.

Much more readable font size. Will have to adjust to navigating around E-S on it.

Cheers guys.

i have an S4 and use the droid browser instead of chrome for exactly this reason... i tried every setting in chrome to make the font larger but it does not come out the way i want.... the default browser works better for me.

Hi,

Tapatalk is lame IMO, browsing the forum. Fills the entire screen with useless pictures.

The best quality batteries and lowest priced batteries for DIY EV's are tier 1 OEM Quality Cells from salvaged (wrecked) EV packs. Two examples are Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf packs.

Nissan Leaf Module specs are here
Chevy Volt Pack Info - Salvage 16kwh Packs Under $2k here
The cells are rated conservatively by GM at 7.8C, Yabert's tests of Volt packs on the DiyEv car forum suggest a higher C rate, 15+ C!.

$1,400 plus $360 freight. Still over $1k less than new lead!

I don't see why a forum should need it's very own app to browse it.

Doesn't anyone make a phone-type browser that handles (PHPBB and other) forums "naturally" and efficiently, wiht options to display just particular things you want to see?

(my tracfone isn't really a smartphone so I can't go check that sort of thing out with it).

Hi,

The forum browsing apps, mentioned above, are close so what you have in mind what you have in mind, the problem is, the only one that I've tried Tapatalk does not solve the difficulties. Instead it introduces new problems.

I think their are versions of PHPBB or software designed to be used with PHPBB, that are optimized for mobile devices. When you start browsing the forum, the software detects that you are using a mobile device, and offers you the option of using option of using a mobile version of the forum software. I think that approach would be better, and I would be grateful if that were implemented. If it's available for free, and it's an option for users, there's no reason not to try It.
Best Wishes!

Hi,

google:
https://www.google.com/#q=phpbb+smartphone

some of those results:
https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=2211856
I am aiming to develop a theme, which ties in with the front end of my website. Is it possible to start with, or include, the required code or template, which automatically adjusts to suit smart phone access to the forum?
Why not use one of the mobile Artodia (http://www.artodia.com/phpbb-styles/) styles and change the look and feel.
Advantage of these styles is the build in mobile device detection which works very well.
Mon Nov 18, 2013 2:45 pm
At the moment the best way could be to include Bootstrap into your style then customise it, but in 3.1, there will be a responsive proSilver style, https://blog.phpbb.com/2013/10/20/responsive-design/
http://www.artodia.com/phpbb-styles/
Below you can download free high quality phpBB styles.

All phpBB styles are compatible with latest version of phpBB forum software. All styles are tableless, use prosilver as base template. All styles automatically scale down large images in posts and use custom new private message notification system that does not rely on popup windows, making sure you will not miss new private messages.

Cannot find style that matches color scheme that you want? You can change color scheme of any style before downloading it.

Mobile phpBB 3.0 Style

This is a phpBB style for mobile devices and search engines.

Style has smallest possible code to load pages as fast as possible.

All headings are optimized for search engines, style doesn't include any useless data. All menu items are hidden in drop down lists that can be accessed by clicking buttons on top of page. Those menus work even if javascript is disabled. Because of that, this style is very easy to use on mobile devices and it is perfect for search engines.

Style includes instructions on how to add automatic mobile device detection for your forum. It detects iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry and many other mobile devices.

https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=2162163
which themes will you advice me to install on my phpbb3 forum for smartphones (iPhone, Android, etc...) ?
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styl ... bile/demo/
Style includes automatic mobile device detection mod with ability to switch between mobile and full forum layout. After installing style open contrib/detect_mobile.xml in browser and follow instructions.
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styl ... d-t_100486
Is there another theme that you could advice me ? I don't like a lot this one (sorry).

You can try this one http://promod.net63.net/

You'll be the first beta tester. :)

Download file
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/download/id_88339
pro_mod_1.0.2.zip
File size: 183090 Bytes
phpBB version: 3.0.11

It requires:

Code: Select all

    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width" />
in prosilver <head> section.
