as i recall dr bass blew up his spotwelder, i think he reversed polarity or something. he was using supercaps i think

that would happen no matter the power source

yeah, i dont doubt it! just that i remember his setup with the caps..and heaps of copper

supercaps are actually a lot safer, if not in use it does not store power and you only need a small power supply to charge them, very little energy is actually "in use" at any given time.
