I need to build a special form 18650 battery which i can't find a case to buy for.
So i need to build one by my own.
Any good ideas what material to use? I thought a ABS plates that can be welded together and sanded. Or aluminium?
And it need to be waterproof. No submerged in water but rainproof.
Thanks

ABS could get cracked up in an accident

Fiberglass like PCB is very rigid a pretty strong.

Or DIY fiberglass with cloth. custom shape rounded corners

Aluminum would be ideal, long as everything electrical well padded / insulated inside.

Polycarbonate is a good choice, impact resistant but scratches easily, if scuffs dont matter its a good choice, I opt for black polycarbonate in my battery case builds now.

good info here and in links from there

For my battery box I used PCB 1/4 inch plates.
Plus aluminium plates on sides bolted to ABS by stainless screws
rubber gasket between.
wires entrances are essential to rain proof solutions.
Always use drip loop before entering battery box
