NEW 1 to 14s balance Charger up to 20A output 40A discharg!

Postby Doctorbass » Fri Oct 09, 2009 12:03 am

I discovered the new Robbe POWER PEAK E1 charger.

This is like the new high end version of the Megapower 12s cahrger.

It feature more interesting caracteristic like showing output power, Wh, %, charge 315W 20A and discharge up to 160W 40A!
this cahrger can charge a normal 16s LiFePO4 battery too ( it charge up to 63V)

It need a 35A power supply on 12V.

Here ist is:

The following battery types and cell counts can be charged:
1 - 36 NC cells
1 - 36 NiMH cells
1 - 12 PB / lead-acid cells (2 - 24 Volt)
1 - 14 LiIo (3.6 V), LiPo (3.7 V), LiFe (3.3 V) cells, plus special voltage.

In addition to the Charge, Discharge and Cycle modes the charger also provides different charge processes to suit the various battery types.

For Lithium and Lead-Acid batteries the charger operates using the CC-CV charge and cut-off process.

In the interests of safety it is possible to monitor and display the temperature of a battery during a process; it is even possible to terminate the charge automatically at a particular pre-set temperature; the appropriate sensor is supplied as standard.
Future-proof: Flash memory technology is the key. Software expansions can be loaded in the form of upgrades. Alternatively the charger software can be updated to cope with new battery technologies.

Rapid developments in Lithium battery technology mean that new battery types are constantly appearing, all with different charge and cut-off voltages (Lithium-Ferrum, Lithium-Phosphor, etc.). The Eternity charger is already prepared for these changes, as it features a special menu with a variable set-up facility for the Lithium battery voltage. This means that it can be adjusted within broad limits to suit new Lithium battery types and their cut-off voltages.

The charger features a USB interface for connection to a PC. The excellent free PC software "Logview" is now well known, and can be used to process the data from the Eternity charger for recording, storing, comparing and printing. The charger also features its own internal memory, so that data can still be recorded if no PC is connected to the unit, allowing the data to be read out and stored at any subsequent time.

The charger features two independent charge outputs, intended for drive and flight batteries

Quiet, temperature-controlled cooling fan.

Cell count: 1 - 36 NC / NiMH cells, 1 - 14 LiIo, LiPo, LiFe cells, 1 - 12 lead-acid cells, 2 - 24 Volt

Charge current: 0.1 ... 20 A (max. 315 W)

Discharge current: 0.1 ... 40 A (max. 160 W)

Equalizer current: 250 mA

Cut-off method:

NC / NiMH batteries: automatic, digital Delta-Peak system with variable Delta-Peak voltage

Temperature cut-off: 10 ... 65°C, variable in 1°C increments

Lithium / Lead-Acid batteries: automatic, using CC-CV process

Temperature cut-off: 10 ... 65°C, variable in 1°C increments

Cut-off method

NC / NiMH batteries: automatic, digital Delta-Peak system

LiPo: automatic, using CC-CV process

Protected against reverse polarity and short-circuit

Sockets for: temperature sensor, Equalizer, BID key, USB.

I've got the previous generation of that charger (12s), and it only has 70mA max balance current... The Chargery stuff kicks it's ass. Does they have practical balance current levels for large packs yet?

The previous versio like you said i guess it's the megapower infinity 12 960SR ( I have it too since 2 years now) I also have the 12s balancer that balance at 70mA only like you mentionned. The megapower is great complete charger and i appreciated it, but it lack of great features like multiple internal resistance cell reading and higher discharge current for test.

The nre Robbe POwer peak E1 ( Eternity instead of Infinity) have 250mA balance. not much more than the 70mA but at least it's integrated into the charger, not like the 960SR 12s previous version.

Megapower is in fact a copy of the ROBBE. The real 12s was the ROBBE Power infinity III and megapower copied it at cheaper price.

Now let see if Megapower will copy this ROBBE 14s!

The new high discharge feature of 40A 160W is attractive because it can replace the CBA-II and it still can be used with LogView software as computer interface.

It would be nice if Chargery would do higher than 10s charger..

Competition came:
Hyperion EOS 1420i NET3 Charger
More powerful and over 50% cheaper.
I am looking actually for a 12s balancing charger - one of my priorities is to learn, so want to get as much data about the battery packs as possible!

Nice that it does 14s, since that is kind of the ideal lipo in series for the "motor kit" controllers with 63v caps.

So theres your 48v commuter bike lipo charger. Beats having 2-3 chargers to set up for sure. another link to put in lipo noobs.
