is there any way to mod this to accept 100V 5A? i'm building a 10kW hubzilla setup for a customer running at 88.8v 100A and want to hook this up on the charge port so its only handling the voltage and 5A from the charger

I could be wrong, but I think that has been asked before and no is the answer..
Get a Cycle Analyst

Or see if patrick ( Methods ) has a second old one for sale, it will do the job you can't afford a new one. OK still more than the meter you linked to, but far better

but why when I can just mod this and save 30-80 dollars, shouldn't be too hard
1) Change voltage regulator circuit
2) Change input scaling
3) Change software (Reverse engineer or rewrite)
Is it really worth your time?

If you can, then go right ahead, i would certainly be interested, as I suspect will a lot of others on the forum. Better if you could make it handle slightly larger charge currents, 15, 20, 25 amps.

Why bother when you can get a Harbor Freight one for $4 that will do the job.

What ? lets have a link to one of those then, I have had a quick flick and search of their site and came up blank.

Let's get a link in here, and yeah i've realized that its more work then its worth, probably just get a voltage panel on ebay and forget about a wattmeter if i cant find a "Harbor Freight"

I am no EE myself so have no idea on how a mod like that would be carried out, but I since no one has done it yet, I assume it is not an easy matter.

I did what you just suggested...cheap panel volt and ammeters from e-bay, though they do each need an independent power supply though

not this one

I did nto use that one, but it looks bettr than the ones I used..powered off the supply it is measuring too..is it waterproof do you reckon> it looks like it is shown working in a bowl of water in the pic

I used these:

The seller you found seems to sell a fair range
http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_nkw=meter&_sacat=0&_odkw=&item=170846310527&_osacat=0&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&_ssn=shcfstore

..even a single unit that is combined amps and volts, power and time..if the display on the front is accurate

in fact the spec shows it measures Ah

Display resolution: 0.01 V, 0.01 A and 0.01 W, 0.01 AH.

I hve sent them a message to see if I can get a wiring info sheet off them...I may have to buy some of these for my Meanwell chargers

Yes it says in the title it is waterproof

Geez Nicobie. That does not even come close to a wattmeter.

FWIW: I have 4 or 5 of them. They are only ok, but not reliable at all. But hey, what can you expect for that price.

I have about 5 of them now. I have coupons that get them for free if I buy $10

Yea, but they are just volt meters/ammeters DVM's.they are not Watt meters

Yeah thats not really what we were looking for at all, and if I were to get a workbench voltmeter and ammeter I would want something that cost more than $4.99
we were looking for something that tracks A, V, and Ah and is durable enough to be put on a bike

Although those cheapo ones are poor quality. I have a stack of them, even cheaper I seem to remember. $0.99 on eBay from china

The battery for them is the main cost. I bought .. 10 of them, leave one in the bike, garden shed the boot of the car, give them to mates who keep borrowing yours, hold doors open with them, whatever, they are generally are good for 10 amps or so

As Ian said, not what this thread is about, but none the less worth having a few cheapie a around

Does anyone know if the watt meter in the first post would work well for a 24v system, just to tell Watt hours used? A CA would be nice, but it's overkill for my purpose.

yeah i have the hk-010 for my 12s4p 40a system and it does the job. also useful because its a balancer (cell checker, parallel balance harness is my weapon of choice) very useful to just have everything on the bike that way
