GE Battery 48V 20AH $370 - is it any good?
HI - I'm looking for a battery to power a Bafang BBS-02 48V 750W conversion kit and found this battery which seems very inexpensive for its voltage and wattage:
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product ... 32479.html
48V 20AH $370 including charger, case, and rear rack. $162 shipping to the US
It seems like a very good price. The vendor is General Electronics Battery Co. Does anyone here have experience with this vendor and this product?

I get spam emails from them all the time. I would avoid them. The packs they sell are cheap and were probably a mass produced batch that have been sitting around and are not new. Plus they illegally ship without hazmat labels.
Did you get an email from someone named "Lucy" ?

Sounds to good to be true. I didn't know you can fit 20ah in such a small box ?

Thanks for the advice. It wasn't an email from "Lucy" or anyone else - I was on looking at their page because a poster here said that they had a good price on the bafang conversion kit, and I noticed the battery.

Looks like they're making it up in the shipping: $404 to ship to the US!

The specs they give are miising chemistry type. Li-ion covers a lot of different li battteries. And there's no discharge rates that I could see. Without more info on the pack, I wouldn't touch it. Website shows what appears to be a 40A discharge rate, but I'd guess that's max burst rate and these are just 1C battery packs. And they don't seem inexpensive to me.

Re: GE Battery 48V 20AH $370 - is it any good?
Thanks, everyone, for the cautionary advice.
Any suggestions for a better vendor for a 48v 10-15 AH battery that I can use with the bafang 750W mid-mount conversion kit? I'm looking for a battery that comes in a box for easy mounting on a rack of some kind rather than a raw, shrink-wrapped or duct-taped unit that I have to make a mounting for.
best,
David

If price is no object, ebikes.ca has a battery that comes in a hard plastic case, sells an additional nylon cover for rainproofing, and two slide-on rack choices for a 48V, 10Ahr battery. I have two of these. Pricey, but exactly what you specified.DaveTheWave wrote:Thanks, everyone, for the cautionary advice.
