These are new cells for high power applications that have both more capacity and more punch. I have attached some data sheets showing some results for these cells from the manufacturers. Both of these cells have a max continuous discharge of 20A and a max pulse of 35A while still having 2500mah of capacity! These cells are great for those who want an alternative to lipo with less of a risk for catastrophic fires. For anyone who wants to run high power these cells are great for that.

Prices from alibaba.com seller eva $4.35 for the 25R batteries $4.25 for the LG cells both are moanufactured in Korea and ship from the shenzen china port. I asked for proof of purchase for the cells from the manufacturer (LG Chem/Samsung SDI) and they provided me with the documents showing their purchases for the cells. Attached are the documents for proof of purchase so these should be legitamate cells from a legitamite reseller. I also asked about a tab welding service to put the desired number of cells in parallel to make pack building easier and they said they have a factory that has the ability to do this also. Hope this helps you guys find good quality cells for your battery packs. :D

I wonder what the odds are like that you're actually getting authentic and fresh 25R's? Price seems pretty cheap.

Thanks, I know. I guess I'm just a bit paranoid buying Alibaba/China. There's far more motivation for most of these guys to sell re-wrapped cells than legit (with much narrower margins).

Can you please post a link to the seller? Any reason the cell photo is from a different Alibaba seller? ( http://listman.en.alibaba.com/)

25R Samsung cells http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/1353007208/Samsung_INR18650_25R_High_Power_battery.html

from what i can tell they are one of the biggest resellers for these batteries on Alibaba

Nice to have options, the 25R sounds pretty decent. I wonder what shipping cost is like? The mention delivery with 45 days.

Edit: Just noticed this line too: "OEM orders are available (battery pack, battery with spot welding ect,)"

Perhaps, but are you interesting? :)

do they have a built in thermal fuse?

These are all unprotected 18650 cells. There is no need for protected individual cells when you can use a bms or a cycle analyst to moniter the battery characteristics.

these cells are not acceptable to me due to my high standards for simplicity and safety. They sound like nice cells for racing or distance contests by risk takers.
.
most users of Konions are above 30 v so that comment by circuit sounds like nonsense. How does each cell know the total pack volts?
.
how does a bms stop a cell from a short? say you have a 10p group of cells that one, just one shorts, say when you fall off the bike avoiding a car door, and the + tab is smashed into the - case? So tell me how this rube goldberg bms can prevent a massive discharge on the one cell, and the entire 10p? For those that don't know of rube goldberg, he made complicated machines that did simple tasks. In this case, a cell fuse blows, with Konions, and stops the discharge before the cell gets hot. Now who will explain how the bms does this simple task?

Maybe you can think of a way to implement safety into the battery pack like the rest of us do. Fyi all 18650 have burst caps in case of a short which should never occur even in a crash If the pack is built well. If the pack is made well which should always be your intention you will include proper spacers to keep thermal management under control like these. Maybe you can even use a beefy fuse like this on the power leads. And maybe you can even put it in a waterproof case like this with padding to protect the cells in case of a crash. It really is not rocket science. And please dont downplay these cells they really are amazing for e-bike use so please no negative comments im just trying to help you guys find some good cells.

I imagine it's because you have a teeny-tiny airgap trying to interupt a relatively high DC voltage.

How do Sony/Konions offer more protection than these? (no debating, just genuinely curious as I wasn't aware they had any built-in protection circuit).

Hello Trevor,
OK, we can provide Samsung INR18650-25R cell to you and price is USD4.35 , but QTY:2000pcs. Because this is new model, we just buy this model in the first time.

The difference in quotes we're seeing is interesting. I wonder what's up with that?
