Should I vent my battery case?

I am in the middle of designing a battery case for my ebike and printing it. Now my question is: should I add some vents to allow a little airflow. It seems like a good idea when dry but rain is my concern. I was thinking that maybe I could either 1) design a latch that I could push down if it rains or 2) just carry some kind of small cover with me (maybe in the case) that I could put over it in the event of rain. What are your thoughts?

If your battery needs ventilation, then it is insufficient for the loads placed on it, and probably needs a lot more parallel cells.

I'd worry more about water ingress, if the battery doesnt get warm / hot.

Usually the problem is getting the battery hot enough for optimal performance. They like some heat.

I have not built my pack yet. I was just wondering if it was important to do. It sounds like it should not really be all that important.
