CellLog 8S alternatives? Coulometers?

Okay, so forgive me if I'm missing it in searching, but it seems the ubiquitous (last time I looked at eBikes) CellLog 8S is now discontinued everywhere... What are folks using to monitor individual cell voltages now?

As a cheeky bonus question, I'm wondering if out there in the big wide world there's a product that does everything I'd like one to do, rather than chaining up multiple bits of hardware, or breaking out an arduino and getting codey... I'm looking for a Coulometer to use as a 'fuel gauge' for my LiFePO4 400Ah 4S2P pack. I would love to have a single display that will let me check cell voltages, pack voltages, monitor current in/out (maybe log this too?), set HV/LV alarms (maybe even kill switches?), monitor temperature etc. In an ideal world, doing all this across both 4S banks, though I imagine nothing will let me check cell voltages across 2 banks...

Am I dreaming? Be gentle ;)

Well.... if you can sacrifice the individual cell voltage

one of these has just about everything you else you asked for

Then you can use a 0-99v LED indicator for each cell and just have those displayed somewhere else

Hi phaz,

I have found this to be a decent replacement for the 8S. http://www.isdt.co/bg-8s.html No logging, yet.

Wonder why you do 4S2P (2 banks of 4S) instead of 2P4S??? 400Ah cells? So a 12V 800Ah battery.

Big bike?

Yeah, I was figuring that separating those two functions out gave me some extra options. Now to find one that I can get delivered in a sensible timescale...

I spotted that one at HobbyKing actually; seems great minus the lack of logging. I'd love to be able to tap into their XT60i thing too so I could monitor temperature on the same display.

The cells are 200Ah each. I actually asked in another thread but didn't get a response about whether I should go 4S2P or 2P4S - my assumption is that in the former I have to spent the money for two balancers/monitors, but get a system that's very sympathetic to the individual cells characteristics, and in the latter I spend half the amount on that, but risk that one cell in a pair becomes vastly different to the other and holds the two of them back, because I can't monitor them individually anymore?

If that's the case, my inclination is to go for 2P4S, but having discovered the terminals of each cell are welded to one another all in series, it's a lot easier for me to split them only once for 4S2P than it is split all the terminals and start again... I think?? Haha!

This is actually ending up as an off grid 12V system rather than a bike... Though I've ended up with an extra 12 cells than I need, so awfully tempted to look at a 36v 200Ah eBike build

it is obvious that you need "something" which displays 6-8 voltages all at the SAME time just like celllog was doing.
Also , whatever replacement for celllog it must have alarm output which can be configured NC or NO, just like celllog can do.
major,
your link in your post above is dead, can you repost?

If it helps, there have been at least a couple of recent threads about alternatives; they should be in this list

Do not get a cellmeter 8. I bought two from progressive RC and both are way off for individual cells. One is 0.04v at it's worst and the other is 0.06v.

If That is on a 4.0v cell ,..it only 1% - 1.5%. ....seems fine for a cheap cell monitor. Why would you need better ?
If you want precision , be prepared to pay for it

I agree, .06v is nothing to worry about. Lots of cheap 6s voltage alarms out there for dirt cheap that can do for just reading voltages good enough. Just don't leave them on the pack all night.
