I have the original version of the maletrics going on 2 years and still running perfect. Its fragile that its mostly a circuit board with no case but I made my own case for it and I think he sells a case for it. But its not going be underpowered, you be able to weld as good as the AC models, the newer model he sells for 75 euros, thats cheaper then the AC one on your link.
I like that it fits on the palm of your hand and easy to store when not in use, and the best part is that it runs on any 12 volt car battery and the newer version you can power from a lipo battery pack. There are videos on youtube of the maletrics in action.
For best performance use 6 gauge pure copper welding cables for your probes, those cables will get every amp onto the tip of what your welding. If you use cheap copper clad cables, they will get very hot when you are welding because you well have to crank up the power setting to get good welds.
The problem with the AC welders are you need very good house current for them to work, otherwise they will be tripping the circuit breakers. With the maletrics I can weld over 80 lifepo4 cells easily with a small 28ah agm battery and still have plenty of power left over in the battery.
