Cobalt, Ontario (Mining Ghost Town) May Be Brought To Life Thanks To EV Batteries:
https://cleantechnica.com/2017/11/1...st-town-may-brought-life-thanks-ev-batteries/

Starts:
Ever since the release of The Economist‘s video about the coming electric car age and 2018 being a tipping point, I’m more interested in cobalt and have read about the problems with cobalt mining. We all want particulate-free fresh air and zero CO2 emissions. It’s time to lose the tailpipe and get up to date with battery-powered cars. The driving force is technological progress with batteries. “The good news is that technology will march on regardless. Batteries will get better, cheaper, and more abundant. Samsung SDI, LG Chem, Panasonic, SK Innovation, Kreisel, and other will keep improving EV batteries to win more deals, and the EV market will improve and grow, as it has been.” But what will these batteries be made of, and where will we get the resources/materials?

Cobalt is often seen as essential for all those efficient batteries...

Sell: Halfords (HFD)

While the numbers were better than some analysts expected, the wider picture isn’t overly inspiring, writes Eleanore Brown.

Investors were keen to see whether motoring and cycling store Halfords did well over Christmas. In truth, the numbers were a bit of a mixed bag. True, the 15-week period ended January 12 saw an acceleration of sales quarter to quarter, but the 2.9 per cent rise in like-for-like retail sales actually represented a significant deceleration from the 7 per cent increase reported this time last year.

This year’s growth was largely fuelled by a successful season for cycling products. Sales in this department rose by 7.8 per cent, impressive given that the weak pound has pushed bicycle prices up as many models and parts are sourced abroad. The store cited premium brand and electric bikes as particularly popular with customers.

Stronger bike sales might sound like a positive development, but these products actually run at a lower margin. What’s more, falling demand for items such as sat navs pushed like-for-like sales of travel solutions down 4.1 per cent over the same period. Sales of car enhancement products also fell by 1.1 per cent.

The company has warned that sales could remain “subdued” for the rest of the 2018 financial year, while group profits are predicted to come in “broadly in line” with expectations. Brokerage Peel Hunt believes profits could fall short of consensus forecasts, which they expect to move down from between £73m and 74m to about £70m for the year ending March 2018.

New chief executive Graham Stapleton (who only took the reins on January 15) has a huge task ahead of him to drive progress at the bottom line, and it seems unlikely in the short term. For us, the shares still lack appeal.

OTOH... SOME might suspect the electric bikes are selling "extra well", and Halfords will discontinue selling "other stuff" and "pull up their socks", profits-wise.

Crowdfunding offers a way in raising capital without having loans
("Raising capital is a challenging but important step entrepreneurs must overcome in order to secure funds for their startups."):
https://born2invest.com/articles/crowdfunding-capital-bank-loans/

Starts:
Raising the right amount of initial capital is perhaps the second most daunting task in setting up a business. The first more difficult task is, of course, having a great idea first. Many great businesses that we know today would have been unknown or never existed if their founders were never able to raise the necessary capital.

Includes:
MATE is a company based in Denmark. Its MATE eBike brand crowdfunding campaign raised $5.8 million (€4.9 million) in 2016. The electric bicycle is foldable and has 7 speed Shimano gears for purely pedal power mode. It is also equipped with a 350 kW electric hub motor that has a top speed of 35 km per hour. When its lithium-ion battery is fully charged, the bike has an optimal range of between 50 to 80 kilometers. It also has front and rear suspension systems. The company delivers the bikes in batches by country depending on the orders.

And:
I know - it's exciting, isn't it?
Electric Vehicles, also known as EV's, on the road are growing at an insane rate.
Using simple math, we can see that Electric Vehicles increased by 108% from 2014 to 2015.
And 62% between 2015 and 2016. . .
Although these growth numbers alone have me personally getting involved in the Electric Vehicle revolution - it gets even better.
There are two subtle and critical things telling from this chart
The first is. . .
There are only 2 million Electric Vehicles on the road in the entire world.
And the second. . .
Chinese growth in EV's (the lighter green bar) is growing more than all the other countries.

Hehe... Clearly written for the investor watt has NO CLUE about the growth of the "smallest" and "most affordable" "electric vehicles"... in a world where cities and places all over the world are moving to severely restrict and ban use of the private automobile.

Hehe... Small miner looking for investors...

Is graphite the next battery metal bull market?
("Lomiko Metals is betting the answer is “yes”"):
http://business.financialpost.com/business-trends/is-graphite-the-next-battery-metal-bull-market

Includes stuff like:
But while initial investor focus has largely been on the resulting increase in demand for lithium, graphite — another key component of battery production — has flown under the radar.

image-1-metal-winners-graph-lmr-fp.jpg

... and:
Depending on the cathode material used, a lithium-ion battery requires up to 15 times more graphite than lithium. A battery electric vehicle like the Tesla Roadster uses 110 kilograms of graphite per vehicle.

What investment did you earn on?

Hehe... Tapping to me? Would you believe ZERO? Just guessing there's money to be made in the "Ebike Business"? Stuff like how in North America, etc it's about to "take off", like it has already done in China and Europe, etc? And further, it's not just ebikes, but component parts thereof... It's like Europeans currently complaining about imports from China, while China folks counter that many of the parts used by Euro manufacturers are bought from China manufacturers? It's like in the flood of Market Research reports coming out now including stuff like

Technical Progress-20 hours ago

So IF I did have any money to invest... MY money would be looking at stocks in parts manufacturers.

wow, not many TSLA investors on this board?

i am. bought @240 back in 2015. been holding ever since and hopefully accumulating more on weak 2020 Q1 sales. imho good chance they will join the 1T club (5500) since there has been so much capital injected into the economy. at the same time, i think the market is in for a big correction. so..who knows?

it won't matter what one man or company does at this point. it's a macro economic problem and the dominos have started falling. here in asia, we saw first hand how fast and deadly this thing spreads despite being super cautious (and EVERYONE wears a mask). my advice to anyone thinking of "buying the dip" or "catching the knife"...don't. this is a bona fide black swan event.

In the USA, stocks will be down until about the end of summer.....then it is a buyer market. They will go up a bit, then down a again. but after that it is buy and hold time. Like 5 to 10 year holds and all will look rosy again.
