It looks like they are the first to market with lithium packs for the industrial equipment industry (IE Forklifts). Seems like a no-brainer for lead acid replacements and they should be able to sell a few thousand packs/year no problem. Its still quite affordable at <$1/share, so far so good over the past 90 days.
Hehe... Flux bumping along since.

"Toyota Tsusho Corporation (“TTC”) is the company’s strategic partner for the Olaroz Lithium Project, and has provided the capital required to build the operation through a combination of its purchase of 25% of the project equity and through the provision of project debt financing guaranteed by TTC during the construction phase and guaranteed by a Japanese government organization (JOGMEC) post operational commissioning. This strategic partnership has made it possible to finance the project on a highly favorable basis, and to be able to effectively market subsequent battery grade lithium production into Japanese and Asian markets."
While having some bigger companies funding the development of the project looks good it does seem that a lot of these mining investment stories end up as bad investments once they start production and ship the product, no one seems to want to buy the mined product for what was originally forecast.
When I put ORE stock code in google I see GXY next to it. http://www.google.com/finance?q=ASX%3AO ... JceQkAWkaw
I remember looking at GXY which is a lithium miner a while back and the price really went up right at the point of production but then fell.
And Lynas was the same http://www.google.com/finance?q=ASX%3AL ... 8e7kgXbvQE
Once Lynas started shipping their rare earth minerals the stock price dropped I remember seeing a stock market guy on a business TV show saying they just booked their first check for like $30k, short story no one seems to actually want to buy the stuff for any kind of price premium.
The stock prices seem to rise greatly in the excitement of big money coming but once they start production it seems to end up a sorry story.

I think EV companies like Tesla are cool but its a very difficult business to make good money in I reckon because the combustion engine is so cheap
comparatively.
orocf closed at 2.62US. Borax mine in production and lithium production coming online end of august?? Generating lots of interest:)

bought as low as 2.01, but added today at 2.61....I've kept this post in my back pocket

Something I didn't catch as of late is that Rockwell Holdings ROC (the largest Lithium producer in the world, located in Chile and on the other side of the border to Orocobre) was purchased for 6.2 Billlion at or about the same time the stock price of ORE.AX/OROCF jumped(July 13). The lawyers are lining up in New York saying the stockholders got screw on the deal....what else is new

It has been said to expected that a lot more Mergers and Acquisitions in the Lithium producing companies

Cross-posting here re new news re battery tech, but "EV-Lite project closes with new EV battery design; lower weight, lower cost":

...and in fine print "The project consortium comprises the Manufacturing Technology Centre; Unipart Manufacturing; Electrovaya; RDVS; CRR; Bluebird Innovation Group; Loughborough University; and Cenex."

I see Electrovaya Inc.may be due for some "upswing", but the rest of "consortium"?

Kinda curious.

Kyoto Institute of Technology in the news a few years back "New PV cell generates electricity from UV and IR light". "made by 'doping' a wide bandgap transparent composite semiconductor -- in this case, gallium nitride (GaN) -- with a 3d transition metal such as manganese. For the atomically impaired among us, the other metals of that family would be scandium, titanium, vanadium, chrome, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, and zinc."

... and now "a leading distributor and integrator of solar systems in Japan", to supply up to 100 MW per year of CdTe (cadmium telluride) thin-film photovoltaic modules in Japan.

http://www.laserfocusworld.com/articles ... japan.html

Hmmm... First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSLR) looking kinda "bumpy" these daze. Man things "took off" back on August 6th (ten days ago). Note above LazerFocus report posted July 30.

"Siemens to Bring eHighway Demonstration to California" (Press release two weeks ago.):
http://siemensusa.newshq.businesswire.c ... california

"Siemens has been selected by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) to install an eHighway system in the proximity of the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, the two largest ports in the U.S. Siemens eHighway is the electrification of select highway lanes via a catenary system which supplies trucks with electric power, similar to how modern day trolleys or streetcars are powered on many city streets, while still offering the same flexibility as diesel trucks. A two-way, one-mile mile catenary system will be installed by Siemens and the system will be demonstrated with different battery-electric and hybrid trucks."

Why Institutions Are So Desperate For The Retail Investor To Come Back.....

It is also why every media outlet, newspaper, ant TV channel has a simple message for you, dear retail investor: please come back already, and buy, buy, buy... what every bank, prop desk, hedge fund, mutual fund, pension fund, and central bank, is so desperate to sell.

Bad news.....at least for those in the USA (north American?) electric vehicle world......world demand for oil is down....USA production of domestic oil is up.......oil price's are dropping.......the price of gasoline will be going down, despite attempts to prop it up by USA oil companies.....this is bad for electric vehicle demand.

Why go electric when gas is cheap??? That will be the attitude. At least until the next spike in oil prices.

Yep....the more I think about it, it is probably well past time to short all electric vehicle stocks. As long as oil is cheap, people won't want to pay the premium for an electric vehicle.
