simple ignition wire question

Post by milkmandan » Sep 18 2019 6:03pm

I'm replacing my controller with a blown capacitor with a new controller. The new one has an ignition wire. The original doesn't.

The throttle has a 5-pin connection.

Can I send the ignition wire connect it to the positive going to the throttle so the on off button on the throttle acts as a switch? Or is the ignition wire simply a duplicate not needed because you already have a positive going to the throttle?

Attached pictures to hopefully illuminate this.

Is there supposed to be an ignition wire on the picture you posted? Is it labeled something else?

I think it"s the in the power the second small red wire in the plug three prong.

Yeah it is. I just don't know what to do with it. I don't want a separate switch plus the on-off button on the throttle. The on-off button on the throttle could function as a switch right, like it did before.

Like 999zip999 said, the ignition wire is probably the small red wire that goes with the bigger red & black wires to the controller power plug.

How is the small red wire connected now? Does it go to a separate pin or socket than the bigger red wire? Or does it also go to the same pin or socket as the bigger red wire?

If separate, jumper it to the bigger red wire either on the controller plug side or on the battery plug side.

Or, if the OP wants to use the push button on the throttle as an on/off switch, he can connect it between the thin and thick red wires; provided that the switch isn't connected internally to anything else in the throttle body.

Can you guys take a swing at one more issue than I have?

The following is a picture of The wire that goes to the on off switch for the headlight and horn. The wires are red and purple. I assume red is positive purple is negative and the switch just completes the circuit. What could I connect this purple and red wire to on the new controller for power? Could I connect it to the high level brake wire? Or would I have to open the new controller and solder a new set of wires to give it power?
