Hi guys!

I currently have a dual motor ebike right now with the following specs:
  • 2 x YKZ7250JG
  • 2 x 72v 3500w front and rear hub
  • 72v 20s8p p42 battery pack

Now the current specs of YYK 50A is:
YKZ Brushless DC Motor Controller - YKZ7250
1 Model YKZ7250
2 Available Battery Voltage 48V - 72V
3 Available Motor Power 500-1500W
4 Phase Peak Current 150A
5 DC Current 50A
6 Working Communication Hall Sensor

I wanted to upgrade to a VESC for space reasons. YYK controller are huge given that I have both of them!

The VESC that I’m looking into is: Ubox V2 100V 200A Dual Motor Controller based on VESC (https://spintend.com/products/ubox-v2-100v-200a-dual-controller-based-on-vesc)

The specifications are:
Based on 100/250 VESC project
Voltage : 16-100V (Safe for 4S to 22S LiIon)
Current : Max 100A/channel, the dual max 200A
12V output: Max 3A(the horn/brake light/ front light share this current)
5V output : Max output 500mA
Switch button: current Max 15mA
Size and weight: 129 x 83x25mm / 375g
Cables: Motor cable: 12AWG 12cm / Battery Cable: 10AWG 15cm

My question is
Will this controller be an upgrade or more on a downgrade of power in what I currently have right now? I’m satisfied with the torque the dual yyk50A provides me but I need to downsize my controllers.

From what I understand based on specs, the yyk can provide max 150A of phase current while the Ubox v2 can only provide 100A phase on each motor.

Am I understanding it correctly? If so, if i switch to VESC, what will I expect on it in terms of performance? and if it is a good idea?

Thank you guys in advance!
