Fitting Hall Sensors Bafang motor HELP!

Post by NeilBarr » Sep 06 2011 3:06am

I have been having great fun building an electric bike, all working and performs well, but already i am keen to improve and looking for some tips on fitting hall sensors to my bafang 500W motor ( came with no sensors), motor and at the moment i haven't ventured inside, although looking at some of the threads seems quite easy!

got the halls http://sensing.honeywell.com/index.cfm? ... _id=149893
I contacted the manufacturer and got no help. Typical.
where do they go? spacing? tips? anybody out there done this and taken some pics?

I've got one open, can take a picture for you tomorrow. Most likely there are slots already cut for the sensors.

Hi Neil,

If you can figure out where the halls need to be located, buy a high temperature 2 part epoxy to hold the sensors in the stator slots:

You want something 100 deg C or above like

You can use high temp silicone to hold down the wiring coming out of the sensors too if needed.

Cheers!

thanks for that, fortunately that's the exact glue i have and am planning on using, might get on and open it up one of these days and just have a look and see if anything jumps out at me on where and how to wires these tiny sensors.
Having lots of fun making my panniers, to custom fit my gear in, out of coroplast, Looks great will post a tutorial on it when im done, need to find another real estate agent, with some "spare" for the second one!
