Hello, some month ago I wrote on my web site one article

http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=it&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=it&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.webalice.it%2Fc.designer%2Fbafang_bpm.htm

regarding rear hub motor and freewheel.

For my opinion was that the normal FreeWheel for good and expensive bicycle is not adapted for receive 9 speed. For this reason I designed for example one motor BPM with Cassette Freewheel. I informed Bafang 8Fun about this idea, and now at EUROBIKE Fair , Bafang have introduced this new motor with Cassette FreeWheel.
Now I think that many user with expensive bicycle, can found one solution for maintain original cassette Freewell and original command on bar and rear disc.
in standard width 135mm.

I hope they sent you a free sample for evaluation! Nicely done, Sir.

That's great news. I am just putting together a 8fun BPM for my recumbent trike. I was a little disappointed that i need to take a step backwards and remove my quality 8 seed shifter's. Discarding my factory 8 speed rear cassette is also very frustrating.

Is the cassette free splined boss fitted to the side cover of the motor? and if so will it be interchangeable with old BPM motors. I can live with having to stretch out my rear drop outs to 140mm as long as I can use the 8 speed cassette.

Awesome!

Great motor just got better. Wonder if they fixed the issue with the unsupported RHS axle..

I didn't know of this issue ." I haven't pulled mine apart" So there is only a bearing on one side?

Kurt

No info on whether the new sidecover (with 8sp spline) will fit onto V1 BPM.

It's only a problem if you take it off-road regularly, do jumps.. or get run over by a car viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15567#p386901

You can still use your 8sp shifter on a 7sp freewheel. One click won't work, the spacing is the same.

@ gogo, I hope !

@ Kurt: at this moment I don't know if cover is interchangeable, I have some doubts.
There is not necessary to enlarge rear drop outs, the motor have standard dimension 135mm for 8-9 speed cassette.

@ full-throttle: the new version that you have showed, is second release V2 (Cover reinforced and mounted with fillet on motor)

New version V3 CST Cassette , have cover as V1 (screwed) and adapted for rear drop outs 135mm

Anyone got any more pictures of this new setup?

Bout **** time that a hub motor manufacturer got hip to you know.. 1990's bicycle technology :)

I am also keen on this new cassette style. I Just picked up the older style for my wife's bike and it makes for a good commuter motor. I wouldn't mind getting one for my trike but wasn't to keen on going back to a 6-7 speed screw on cluster and spreading the drop-outs.

I guess its only a matter of time just like disk brake hubs. It took a while but now they are common on hub motors.

Kurt.

maybe in a month you should see something.
However when he comes into my hands, you'll have news;)

Bafang's website is updated, looks like it's got more in common with BPM than BPM II

:D nice and about time. Perhaps they will ofer more of there motor range with the new cassette style in the future.

in my web page http://www.webalice.it/c.designer/bafang_bpm.htm
you can found the difference between BPM CST I and II.
The differences are marked with green arrow (last picture)

Don't hold your breath. It's going on a year since we first heard about the CST and nothing yet.

Hmm, this item is available at taobao
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=6296283177

Did anyone tried it?
I am excited to know its real RPM unloaded...

The seller sells a lot of bafang stuff http://hzchkj.taobao.com/
Probably it is not a fake?
